Max Kellerman is a terrible commentator has no empathy for boxers. He's never been a boxer or a trainer. He's a shallow, arrogant slimebag who has never fit in on the networks like HBO and ESPN, but inexplicably stays in these big jobs.

Gvodzyk's whole body language as the round ended reeked of, I can't handle it anymore, let me just go in the corner and bend over.

Like I wrote in another topic, Max is a clown that pretends he cares about fighters after they die or get permanently damaged then criticizes others when he doesn't get his bloodlust quenched. Look at the video he made last week about Golovkin, when he was commentating on HBO he treated Golovkin like he was the best ever. When he went to ESPN as his main job and Golovkin ends up getting robbed against Canela two times, beating a 185 pound Jacobs in a close fight and beating Sergey in a close fight Max starts to crap all over him. Dude is a backstabber with no thoughts of his own and doesn't care about fighters health even though he puts on an act on tv like he's going to cry, he only speaks what his bosses tell him to say.

Credit to Teddy Atlas for the pep talk. Gvodzyk came out and tried to go for it a little in the first portion of the following round.

He was physically badly beaten up, but he didn't "quit". It was a typical shallow, unfair comment from Kellerman.

You can tell when a guy is looking for a way out when he gets hit with a solid body shot, then tries to act like his hand is hurt , or he got hit low or something. He's lucky that Beterbiev was a gentleman, because he should have decapitated him with a right hand, while he was complaining that Beterbiev punched him too hard in the gut, to the ref.

Plus Gvozdyk tried his best in the 10th. But he was exausted and Beterbiev had the energy like it was the 1st round. Gvozdyk quit the round he quited, knowing he would have to nine more minutes of pure pain against a monster.

Gvozdyk was done. He gave a tremendous effort and showed heart, but he was done. He wanted out. He was looking for excuses and wanted no more. He simply did not want it anymore and certainly did not want it as much as Beterbiev did.

Proof? He got hit with a very clear and accurate body shot and physically turned away and complained to the ref whilst holding out is arm. He bought himself a few precious seconds but this was a very clear and obvious sign of weakness and a sign that the end was to come.

Does this make him a coward? No. He literally tried his best, had a good game-plan and unfortunately came up decisively short. Gvozdyk fought like a champion does. He was just no the better man on the night. This was the exact same as the Joshua vs Ruiz Jr. fight. Gvozdyk and Joshua fought as well as they could have, fought like champions do, and it got to a point where both wanted no more for very legitimate reasons.

The problem for Gvozdyk now is huge. His opponents know that they can get him to place where he does not want to be and wants out. Once you do it, you will do it again. Floyd Mayweather Jr. talked about this in the lead up to his Conor McGregor fight. That is a dangerous thing for all your opponents to have faith in, knowing that if they keep going sooner or later you will make him quit. Even if Gvozdyk's future opponents are losing they majority of the rounds they will believe that they can just wait until the later rounds and come on strong there.

Good post. Beterbiev should have knocked him the **** out when he just paused, it seemed like the ref was on Gvozdyk side too during all that. There are no ****ing breaks in boxing lmao. Luckily it didn't cost Beterbiev the fight since it looked like they were trying to rob him on the cards.

For those criticising Max Kellerman, you can watch and listen here on what he said. He was not disrespectful towards Gvozdyk, he did not bash him and throw insults at him. What Max said about Gvozdyk quitting at the end of the 9th round in the corner is abundantly obvious. Just look at Gvozdyk's body language, his eyes and how Teddy Atlas is talking to him and trying to coax him to get his fighting spirit back in order.
