I would be delighted for ritson to get a shot at a huge fight but there's a good chance taylor wont have a belt this time next week so lets see how it plays out.

Nah, they've been building Fitz vs Fowler 2 for months now. After Cheeseman's Garcia pasting they wrote him up as anything other than useful oppo for their chosen guys.

Well what did I learn from the Newcastle fights..

Ritson shouldn't be anywhere near a world title fight, nowhere near. The talk of him maybe getting a title shot is boardering on ridiculous in my opinion.

Ritson is a very good domestic level fighter, I have a feeling his career will sort of be like John Murrays, another lightweight, I see him in that sort of way, looked great domestically at times but stepped up and got wrecked.

What else. Oh yeah Cheeseman can move his feet and not block punches with his face, genuine Shocker.. but he is essentially Sam Eggington V2 and Sky and Hearn don't seem to understand I don't want to watch this clown on a Saturday night as CO MAIN EVENT.

Is this what my Sky Sports package is now? if I don't go PPV then it's Cheeseman, Fitzgerald, Fowler and Ritson? That's what I get from Sky is it?

Or women's boxing or Next Gen, really? I'm expected to pay for Chisora Vs Price.. that's just taking liberties. You've pushed me over the edge now.

I'm starting to know how Chisora feels now, I feel like I should get a free jar of vaseline each month direct from Sky to ease the pain of the rammin im getting over here.

Well F YOU Sky, I won't buy another PPV out of principle, I'll just row row row my boat gently down the .....

The commentary for Fitz Cheeseman was doing my head in.

Yes Cheeseman boxed very well early, but because nobody expected him to go on the back foot the way they were drooling over it was a bit OTT.

The first round was fairly even but on my card I gave it to Fitz, there was a round in the middle (I think it was the 5th) which was a clear Fitz round and I had Fitz winning the last 4 rounds of the fight - that's 6 rounds right away so that's already a draw. If you then give Fitz any of 2,3,4,6,7,8 he's won the fight?

So not the huge robbery Cheeseman is making out... in the way he stormed out for the ring etc. Also I thought Hearn talked bollocks during the interview after the fight, Fitz didn't get any credit after just winning a British title. It seemed to be me like SKY were pushing for a Cheeseman win.... perhaps because Fitz put Matchroom Golden Boy Fowler on his arse....

Great card by Eddie, lived up to the hype! Would have liked to have seen Bakole on a bit later.

lots of talk about Fitz v Fowler again, but I think Fowler v Cheeseman would be a more entertaining fight.

Ritson v Davies was an absolute cracker.

The way they went off in the first few rounds I thought there was no way the fight would go the distance. I did think Davies was starting to push Ritson back and keep him against the ropes, looking to use his size to wear Ritson down.

Fair play to Ritson and his team, they realised this and changed the game plan to box more which is effectively what won them the fight. His jab was ****ing superb all night as well, he gets some serious weight behind it.

Davies was superb as well though, a real fantastic fight and FOTY contender! The atmosphere sounded electric and a win for Ritson means more bigger nights in the North East.

Josh Taylor is a step too far though. Levels. But a big pay day none the less.

Fitz has beaten the pair of them this year, it should be Fowler and Cheeseman who fights and the winner is then in line for Fitzgerald.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ritson went with Frank in the near future

That would surprise me. Eddie seems to have done a decent job of building him at British level and has capitalised on the partisan Geordie support.

I had Warrington in mind whilst typing that out.

The difference being in this case that Warrington has far more natural ability than Ritson and was always capable of being more than just an arena filler. Frank has guided his career well since his split from Matchroom.

Personally I don’t see Ritson advancing much further than his current level; he will keep getting opportunities as long as the Geordie crowd turn up en masse; the relationship with Matchroom suits all parties for the foreseeable future.

That's your opinion and you are more than entitled to it.

    We had..

Osueke Vs Summers, boring boring boring.

Bakole Vs A shot to pieces, way past any sort of best 86 year old Johnson.

Savannah Marshall Vs an out of shape late opponent who looked way out of her depth.

Joe Laws swinging away like a drunk outside a pub against somebody I've never heard of, to be fair never heard of Joe Laws before that.

Cheeseman Vs Fitzgerald, Cheeseman did his best not to make it a fight, he wanted to box and Fitzgerald himself said he was poor.

Ritson Vs Davies Jr was OK, both domestic level fighters who had a fight, I give Davies Jr credit for making it a fight but again.. it wasn't exactly Fight of the year.

So excuse my whining and not being overly happy with that being served up to paying Sky Sports subscribers.

Never mind, I'm expected to pay for David Prices purse AGAIN at the weekend if I want to watch anything half decent.
