Good post. People's dismissal of Kovalev is so that IF Canelo beats him they will be able to get through the night with some sleep.
I'd like to see Canelo beat Kovalev, as well as the other way around. I'd like to see multiple Mexicans Mae history
Nah. Just saying he wont dare to be great but going for undisputed Lhw champ if he beats Kov. That's all. It's okay guys King Artur will pick his belt up after he goes back down to MW
Canelo won't go back to 160lbs as he struggles to make it imo.He may fight Saunders or Smith at super middleweight?both those fights would be decent imo.
of the two, Canelo will most likely choose BJS because Saunders has no chance of knocking Canelo out and even less of a chance getting a decision against Canelo, even if he beats him soundly. Another questionable decision on the cards for the cinnamon man. It’s a very low risk fight but I don’t know if it’s big enough to entice Canelo. Smith would be a much tougher opponent than faded, nearly shot Kov because Smith is prime. He doesn’t fit the profile of a Canelo opponent.
I'm pretty sure he is daring to he great by even fighting Kovalev for all this talk about how Kovalev is shot what other top 10 MW or even top 10 SMW would people pick to beat Kovalev?
Yes Canelo has gone for the biggest name at 175 but certainly not the best or in his best form. Do you think the Kovalev of 2014/15 would have been sought out by Canelo? We will see Canelos true intentions if he does infact win, will he stay and fight Beterbiev or will he go back down to 160? His “title” at 168 is a joke too.
Canelo's true intentions seem very clear. To win a title at 175 against the biggest name and most established and proven fighter there. If he decides to move back down to 168, 160, 154 or move up to CW or HW that's his prerogative and deserves nothing but praise for doing what very few fighters today attempt to do. I don't see you criticizing Pac or Lomachenko for doing similar and not fighting the top dogs in the divisions they're fighting in. You seem to measure Canelo with a different stick, that's fine and all but it makes you look very hypocritical.
I’m not criticising it one bit but it is what it is. He jumped to 168 for a fake title against a weak as **** champion, there where and are far greater challenges and fighters more worthy at 160. As for the Kovalev fight, yes it’s an excellent fight but let’s not try to pretend he’s not seen the slippage and we all know that Kovalev has regressed.
Even iSalty's hero Ward made the same point: that Canelo never went anywhere NEAR Kovalev until he had multiple losses and a really hard out against Yarde. Even the salty one's hero Ward notes that fighting an old Kovalev is a calculated risk, but fighting say Beterbiev would be just stupid.
Ironically regarding Ward/GGG Ward after offering a fight for GGG when Golovkin had already signed to fight Lemieux claimed GGG only wanted to face the smaller Canelo. Isn’t Ward suddenly looking at facing Canelo if he was to beat Kovalev? @IsaL is as bad as shockmaster
