As long as he hasn't lost muscle it should only make him better.

I really don't believe Ruiz will be anywhere near the 220's on fight night. If he has lost any weight at all, I'd guess he will be no more than 10 - 15lbs lighter than the first time he fought Joshua. Has Ruiz ever been knocked down before? I'm under the impression that Joshua was the first to do so. And Joshua wasn't KTFO, he was on his feet when the fight was stopped. He gassed. I think Joshua wins the rematch surprisingly easily no matter what Ruiz weighs in the rematch.

If this is true he will get knocked out by the first punch that lands. He will be weak as hell.

I’m halfway convinced he’s doing the keto diet based on the food he posts. If that’s the case, I would expect him to enter the ring around 250 without any lost muscle mass.

Another source refers Ruiz Jr is expecting to arrive to a final weight about 111kg for his fight on December. So seems that to push up or to bring down Ruiz weight is not a problem for his staff. Lets dont forget he has fought at more than 140kg before amd he has lost more than 20kg training with Sanchez at altitude in California.

He's lost maybe a stone, can't see any mention of 44lb.

Its great news in one sense, that a full 44lbs Ruiz wont be having to carry around in grueling fights and to the Rolls Royce shop. He will feel a great benefit from that. But in another sense drastic weight loss training so close to a fight has been known to not be a good thing to do. 44lbs is alot. Still got time to focus and tactical train for the fight and all that but he cant of had much of a relaxing time before a training camp if hes lost that much weight.

With the type of training these guys do just changing your diet from eating whatever you want to more controlled can have such quick results for a fat guy. I agree though that 44 pounds is a lot to lose that quickly, his team have to manage his weight loss very carefully.

Once he became so well known and his story was such and inspiring accomplishment, I think he realized it was getting so much coverage because he was so overweight

I think vanity/ pride/self -realization, etc has kicked in and he realized “I’m KNOWN as a fat guy that one heavyweight title”........ I’m going to change that

We all agree he needs to lose weight because he was carrying huge amounts of body fat, that only hinder his performance and endurance

but 44 pounds ..? That sounds really drastic from one fight to the next

And in the process of getting in shape, he’s going to be gaining more muscle, which is more dense and heavy than fat. Obviously

Thread title is too vague. We talking about 40 lbs from last fights weight or we talking about 40lns from his weight prior to training camp. If it’s 40lbs from walking around weight prior to camp , that’s to be expected. Ruiz has been enjoying the fame and looked like he has put on some extra weight. If his final weight is 230-240 he’ll be fine for fight.

If Joshua is training harder than ever, why shouldn't Ruiz? Are those fat t*ts going to win him the fight again?

    Where did he start out?
If he went up to 280 or 290 partying after the first fight, then he may just be back down to where he was.

He weighed 268 against Joshua which was the highest hes been in a long time.

He'll probably come in in the 250s like hes weighed for most of his career in the 2nd fight
