it was strong then, unlike your favourite division full of overated yankies that is 154lbs, that has been shite for a long while.
Hello, Mr Presumptuous. Let's be honest here. CW was weak then and it is weak now. As for 154, yes that is weak division as well. Also, a division hindered by the fact that the top guys have not been facing each other at all. At least at cruiser-weight everyone faced off for one champion. It is still a weak division and does not make you an ATG for becoming undisputed there. Just as Terrence Crawford is not an ATG on this current day, neither is Usyk. Both can become an ATG but more needs to be done.
In terms of total domination there's only been one fight like that since and it was Sergio Garcia-Ted Cheeseman. That was Calzaghe-Lacy levels of onesidedness.
Gassiev has a better resume than Beterbiev. Sure Beterbiev arguably has the better single win in Gvozdyk but Lebedev, Dorticos and Wlod all three of who were teak tough former, current or former and current world champions at that weight and legit bangers and savage punching KO artists>> Artur's resume and I'm a huge Beterbiev fan and I have been for about 11 years now. Gassiev also has a better resume than Kell Brook whose next best win after winning a razor-tight SD over Porter that could've gone either way is who exactly?? Senchenko? Carson Jones? Or what about the pre Porter Spence? Damaged goods Brook who was coming off a stoppage loss, a bad beating, a terrible eye injury and absolutely gruesome surgery to repair it, and back down from 160 after bulking up to fight up there (and everyone knows it was pure hell for Brook to boil down to 147 prior to bulking up to fight 2 divisions North. And Brook was doing very well in the fight until his orbital socket got shattered by a vicious head clash which obviously had a big impact on both him and the path the fight subsequently took. Then we have blown up 135lb Mikey Garcia fighting in his 5th weight class and one he had about as much right being in as Spence does being down at 135. A fight between a natural 154 pounder (and a big one at that) who is sinewy and bursting at the seems at 147 and a 135 pounder who was soft even down at that weight. I wonder how much credit Gassiev would get for beating a much naturally smaller SMW or LHW world champion? And then who do we have on Spence's resume? Career 140 pounder Paulie level featherfist Algieri who was 1-2 in his last 3 fights Career 140 pounder featherfist Peterson who should've been 1-2 in his last 3 fights Spence has literally only fought 2 world class fighters his own size in his entire career and he struggled like crazy against both despite sapping their energy tanks by low blowing the hell out of them all night and one of them coming off a loss and being damaged goods and the other should've been coming off a loss to the bang average Ugas who isn't fit to lace a 400 year old Lebedev's boots, let alone a 37 year old one. So if we're going to try and discredit Gassiev's win over Lebedev because it was close then you better apply those same standards to Porter who categorically should've lost his previous fight to the bang average Ugas lol
It’s a shame he’s gonna be 35 soon and in 10 years people will be asking ‘Beterbiev who?’ would love kov to put the vodka down and batter him
Lebedev was a beast dude. Easy to see from his fights. YPH, Huck(rematch) ducked him. If not for politics and the cowards that ducked him he would have had a HOF career. Super talent.
Yeah slightly better. Beterbievs resume and career are really only just now just stating to live up to their full potential. When all is said and done though I think he'll surpass him.
How about do something in a division that's not 99% european. Cw is a glorified domestic level division
