Josh Taylor on AJ v Ruiz JR 2....

“I’ve known Joshua many years, being on the same GB team, and he’s always struggled with shorter, more compact opponents, especially guys quicker than him. And punching down the way he does, he always seemed to struggle with his distance control. He never really looked able to adjust to smaller, quicker guys. I know Anthony pretty well, and I like him, but I think the rematch may go the same way.”

Better that than an obese, roided, alcoholic cokehead with mental health issues.

    Yes it would.

It's also a shame that you're probably at least 3 of those things. Hang in there pal!

He bet on he would have a massive heart attack before turning 50..

Must have been for big money the effort he is putting in to achieve this..

You simply have no understanding of different body types.

Too busy attempting to make witty remarks I suppose.

If he lost 44 pounds as someone said in this forum yesterday then he would be a walking dead man in the ring against AJ.

Is losing a bunch of excess fat that draining though? I think draining is when you lose muscle.

that's what i thought too. losing muscle, you'll inevitably end up losing power, strength and speed. atrophy of muscle might also effect endurance. all together making an athlete feel sluggish and drained.

losing fat, i'd think there'd be immediate health/athletic benefits.

some ppl argue it's a matter of the body not being able to function normally after a drastic change it isn't used to (and in Ruiz' case we're talking years, probably since childhood, of being a fatso). i can't comment on the science of that claim.

That makes sense. Maybe the balance and sharpness will be off since you aren't used to moving that light.

I wonder why he would lose weight, he did well for the first match, why changing a system that works... Maybe he had his perfect weight for his style.

The only thing I can imagine is that he will try to anticipate what weight Joshua will come in and he'll react to that.
