Well, I'd like to think that with the IBF Title, and Chickenson just a fight or so from retirement that he's ready to risk it for a chance to finally outdo Sergey.

Win or lose, Haymon would make it worth his while and Beterbiev would easily take a short stack for a low risk shot at becoming#1.

    Just makes sense.

Chickenson is milked out. It's time.

I guess we can say now that IB from 1½ years ago DKSA Beterbiev. Granted, in my defense, this was before his streak of KO victories over unbeaten Callum Johnson, well-regarded Kalajdzic, and elite prime fellow titlist Gvozdyk.

Obviously the scuttlebutt among the 175lb fighters themselves was (and probably remains) that Beterbiev is a monster, based on word of mouth from gym/sparring legends and firsthand accounts of his KO victims. Some of us didn't want to listen, because of how flawed Beterbiev looked in his first couple of years in the pros "getting his sea legs", so to speak.

But yeah, guy's a one man

    demolition crew.

I understand its a dangerous sport, but its your choice, your job, you are a professional. Orgs need to do something about it. Like ****ing suspend a fighter for 2 years, strip belts, do something so serious that it gonna force them to fight.

    @IntentionalButt

What do you think about my theory. I've said in the past that when people avoid fighters it comes down to risk reward (no ****) but against a boogeyman pressure/puncher fighter the stakes are heightened. It's one thing to take a fight against a slick mover who will most likely beat you on points. Its another to fight a guy who will viciously beat you down and possibly or even likely ruin you and rob you of the rest of your prime. Add in the effect of being unknown among casuals and its multiplied. Who wants to take a loss, a beatdown and a career threatening beatdown if you're not compensated with financial reward?

Isnt this why everyone wanted to fight Mayweather at one point? Everybody he fought was B or C level and for those guys it was an easy predictable and boring UD loss. You know, nothing embarrassing, no beatdown, just eat a couple of straight rights, jabs and lead hooks that dont hurt much. Then follow him around the ring, get hugged about 4 times a round and then take a UD loss. Oh and then get compensated by 7 or 8 figures. Not a bad day at the office.

Isnt this the same reason guys ducked prime GGG? Who wants to get a brutal beating and a loss for a relatively pedestrian payday?

    What you think here?

some people believe what they want I guess. I won't go to much into it since you've admitted the errors of your ways.

At least with Kovalev and Golovkin you had the HBO angle. There was some decent money on the table and a really good opportunity. This is why guys like Agnew and Macklin stepped up. And why Golovkin could fight 3-4 times a year.
Until recently, Beterbiev had nothing to offer besides a beatdown. At least now he is with ESPN.

And you nailed the Mayweather part.

Honestly, who would want to walk through the hell that is fighting Beterbiev if it isn't for a big payday? The guy is taking years off your career and life. He's relentless, he never lets you breathe, always coming forward, great work rate, thudding power, excellent body puncher, bottomless gas tank and insane ape strength in the clinch. Oh, and willing to to fight a dirty, rough, mauling style and he's fairly awkward, throwing from weird positions and always working in every clinch as he's either rabbit punching or tossing you to the canvas. Like you said, he's a one man wrecking crew...for you wrasslin fans, he's "The One Man Gang". It's a very apt nickname for Artur.

Now, I'm not saying he's unbeatable, he's technically flawed and puts himself in positions to get hit, Gvozdyk had some nice success early from range, he was working up and down very nicely early and looked sharp, but eventually you're going to wear down and have to willing to break rocks with a pickaxe in hell to get that W, if you physically and mentally can hold up to the pressure and power. Very interested to see who's next.

Beterbiev is back in the gym already. Check his Instagram.

This is why I picked him over Gvozdyk. Beterbiev is a gym rat, he has nothing else to do apart from train. He does not smoke or drink or capitulate to other vices. He is not shot or rusty either. He is ALWAYS ready.

Watch out everyone at 175lb ...

Well, there are levels to any profession. And honestly speaking, some of the guys who ducked Beterbiev were right to do so. If you are going to get flatlined, at least get paid for it(Back in 2017 you got only peanuts for letting Beterbiev beat you up).
No, there is no glory in showing up just to get KTFO Cherry Garcia-Salka style. And **** fighting for the glory of it; **** does more harm than good.
