Beterbiev just KOd prime Gvozdyk in 10 rounds. Walked through him..

A faded athlete like Kovalev with all that wear & tear beating Beterbiev now?! No chance, maybe back in the day but not now..

Too leaden footed & vulnerable these days.. all he has left pretty much is the jab.. watch the Yarde fight..

Bad style match up. Beterbiev would pummel this version.

Nescit vox missa reverti = from Horace...Horace: Epistles Book I, epistle xviii, line 71.)

Why can't someone compare 2 heavy handed guys that could both be considered pressure type fighters, who both are always moving forward , and who are both rough in the clinches?

This El Chicano is constantly making favorable posts about Canelo. What a joke of a thread. He has a Canelo fetish.

Kirkland was a mirage, sadly. Would have been a fun fighter

Your nuts. Canelo is too short and doesn't hit hard enough. AB would cripple him to the head or body. Way too strong and big. Canelo would not take this fight.

Beterbiev is what's known as an aggressive counter puncher. He's not always moving forward. He can be aggressive and push a high pace because of his tremendous gas tank. Beterbiev throws high volume but he's also patient at the same time.

He feints, waits for the opponent to throw a counter, and then he attempts to counter the counter. He frequently counters the jab with a right hand or uppercut. One of the punches he rocked usyk with in the amateurs was a slip and counter right hand in response to an Usyk straight left.

I'm not sure why people still think Beterbiev is some one dimensional brawler after watching him fight.

Well the last fight i saw of his he was the agressor throughout and constant coming forward, which had Gvodzyk under quite a bit of pressure. I suppose a better analogy would have been Margarito's stalking of Cotto, but i merely drew comparison to Kirkland bevause this thread was about Canelo facing Beterbiev....also I notice similarities between Kirkland and Beterbiev roughing up their opponents exceptionaly well in the clinches.

He’s definitely no featherfist but Kovalev has legit elite power. I thought Gvodzyks footwork looked awkward tbh, he never settled and looked scared to sit down on his punches. Kovalevs jab is spiteful and he isn’t afraid to plant his feet.

It's a bad comparison because Kirkland pales in every aspect compared to Beterbiev. Beterbiev isn't going to walk into Canelo's counters because he likes to counter too, and often baits people to throw first. With the length difference, Beterbiev would be happy to sit on the outside and counter him all day. Canelo would have to get close, where he is also weaker compared to beterbiev. His power would have Canelo overreacting to feints. This would cause Canelo to gas out fast. Honestly don't see how Canelo can possibly beat Beterbiev.

Course I may have to reevaluate if Canelo comes in like the terminator against Kovalev and demolishes him, which isn't likely.

Canelo has no power at 160, his shots are going to be less effective at 175. He’s a very good all around fighter and counterpuncher. His stamina could also be a problem at 175 if he gains too much weight. AB isn’t a faded Kov, he’s a prime LHW, a dangerous one. Very dangerous.

I thought he showed deceptively good skills against Gvoz. It’s a moot point because there is zero chance Golden Shower Boy is going to let Canelo share the ring with the beast AB, at least not to fight. Canelo has almost no chance against top SMWs and even less against a top LHW. He needs to go down to MW and try to unify.
