Don’t agree with this mate. Both Junior and his dad are still pretty popular with the mainstream casual British public as a result of their stint on Gogglebox. Eubank has such a fan friendly style that I think he will always appeal to the casual “football” audience. Having said that Korobov in New York is probably the wrong fight to build on that mainstream appeal here. But I certainly think he would be a major attraction on Sky if he returned to that broadcaster. After Joshua and possibly Whyte I have no doubt that he’d be the biggest draw on Sky.
Did anyone watch Korobovs last fight against Aleem? He was absolutely exhausted at the end of round 10, was a 10 rounder.
I didn't actually think it was all that close, Korobov clearly won that for me, the majority verdict on the RBR & Eye On The Ring was that Korobov should've won it as well. 1 round doesn't make outweigh the previous 11. And what makes that performance even better, is that although he was in training, i bet he didn't expect to be facing Charlo come fight week. Sure he did fade in that fight, but i cant see the weight cut doing too well for Eubank either. athleticism only gets you so far, and it's not worked out for him at the very top level against someone with Korobovs style.
I’m not a fan of Junior’s skill set mate, ordinarily I would agree with you and say a southpaw as skilful as Korobov would be too much for him...but his team do seem to aim for over the hill names such as Abraham, Degale, they believed Groves was there for the taking but got that wrong. The more youthful names they pick up seem to have static feet and want to go toe to toe. All of which suits Eubank’s swarming style and short hooks and uppercuts. Nobody was asking for this fight prior to its announcement. People were wanting him to fight a world champion. He doesn’t need this fight. I expect Junior to blitz him and eventually stop him in championship rounds.
As a Korobov fan it’s the only thing that worries me. CEJ will be coming all night and it’s from rounds 8-12 that’ll be most work for Matvey.
You say this as if it’s a bad thing. Boxing corruption and politics and the number of titles around these days makes them almost meaningless. It’s called prize fighting for a reason. Make as much money and take as little damage as possible and get out of there. His way may not be for everyone but you’d have to be pretty stupid to criticise it.
Back to Smith and Saunders actually do they fight bums every fight because they are indeed scared? Last time Saunders had a real fight lined up he had to od on peds just to get the courage up. That doesn't reek of fear? To make things worse he has been offered that fight again and is still in hiding? Who is he fighting next again? And don't use boxrec. Ffs I know I couldn't tell you. What a scrubber
Korobov is younger than GGG Korobov is much younger than Wlad when he fought Fury He hasn't had a ton of pro fights he is relatively fresh.
He did look old in rnd. 12 against Charlo. Against Aleem he was barely hanging on. Running, holding and gasping.
Sounds like Billy Joe without peds Billy Joe looks old in the championship rounds too, he looked old in championship rounds when he was 25
So I was reading this thread in Westfields just now when I popped into Superdry and up comes Eubank Jnr on the screens advertising their clothes. A few people In the store noticed it and clearly knew who he was. It dawned on me that its such a shame that the Eubanks didn't settle their differences with Eddie as he could still have been a big star over here, and probably should be on Sky instead of going to the states with PBC. Its even more crazy when you consider that Frank Smith is his Brother in law.
