Joshua doesn’t have the punch resistance Canelo has. He’s harder to protect. Also what are the dollar amounts in this Joshua Ruiz rematch? When the money gets that high who knows. Im not alone in thinking Joshua’s loss was dodgy. I’m just saying in a sport like boxing with its rich history of corruption and fight fixing, it isn’t tinfoil hat time to think Canelo would be protected against Kovalev. The ref stopped Parker from working inside against Joshua, lot of people will be looking at that and more in the upcoming Ruiz rematch.

Also Toney was juiced, got banned after a fight for using drug. And he never fought very tall guy with long reach like Lewis or Klitschko. And I did not watch all his fights but I don't think he ever fought an heavyweight with a very good jab, which is the weapon of choice against faster and smaller fighters. Props to Toney though! What a fighter he was. A legend.

I agree the powers that be will do everything to protect the A-side, but there’s only so much they can do with Canelo against a monster like Kovalev, a p4p guy 2 divisions above his current weight class where he’s already considered smaller than average.

I was a massive Joshua fan until I was that Parker fight.I'm sure CST80 agrees with a lot you're saying but in his opinion he doesn't see Kovalev being the kind to lose on purpose.

I think its a potentially dangerous fight in terms of him taking a loss, but i have never once considered him getting seriously hurt as a result of this fight. Well no more than any boxer in a fight.

Its hardly GGG vs Kel Brook, where i was really worried for Kel going into the fight.

Its a big task. The size difference is a lot, combined with Canelos already questionable stamina. With the added bulk he could gas and not have enough for the home stretch.

But he is a true technician and he clearly has the skill to not take too heavy a beating if the fight was to go that way.

All I want to see is the best man on the night LEGITIMATELY getting the win he deserves whichever it may be. BUT I know I'm in the majority that believe Kovs only chance is to stop Clenelo hopefully by clean KO. No way Kov wins a dec over Clenelo in Vegas we ALL know that. Are Byrd, Moretti & any other Vegas judge working this & Kenny Bayless or Tony Weekes officiating ??

I’m just wondering how wide of a margin Canelo will have to win by in order to make certain posters here not start crying about a robbery.

I can't wait for the day when his Vegas insurance runs out and he gets shafted on the cards by some mediocrity. The price of salt on the international market will collapse as the Canelitas bawl.

I know what Canelo is trying to do. He wants to follow the thing that the MW legends like Leonard, Hearns, Jones, and Hopkins did in the past. Moving up in weight to higher weight classes to fight those World Champions and beat them. Leonard knocked out Lalonde at 175, Hopkins beat Tarver at 175, Jones knocked out Virgil Hill at 175 and beat John Ruiz at the HW Division, and the like. Canelo wants to make a history of his boxing career by fighting against Kovalev at 175, but Kovalev is still a dangerous fighter so Canelo might have a big chance to kiss the canvas for the first time in his life in this fight.
