Lol!!!! Despite your over the top Byrd takes, I can at least agree that he should take a decision in this fight.
Byrd he was physically strong enough to out work Ruiz in clinches ..he had the speed and defense to deflect...some people will never accept Byrd was the heavyweight champion of the world...they lose sleep over it
I am surprised at some of the comments about Byrd on this forum. Some say he was lucky to get the nod against Golota, Williamson and McCline, yet he clearly won all of those fights by 1-2 rounds. I don't think Ruiz would have done any better against Byrd.
Ruiz would probably have stunk out the joint with his hitting and holding and made it close. I think Byrd would win but I don't buy that he could escape Huggy Bear.
Ruiz. controversial or close decision. DKP oversaw his career and did a wonderful job. His guy would win a decision on the cards. And Byrd was certainly no favorite of King's when he signed up with him. Simple case of follow the money.
Also a fair observation. Ruiz pretty much beat Golota by robbery, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume he does Byrd the same way.
Well we the fans of boxing can see lots of examples of DKP seeing to it the breaks went to his favorite fighters. Geez, even the Ruiz matchmaking during that timeframe is horrible when you look at all the heavies on the scene at the time.
This has the potential to be one of the ugliest snooze fests of all time. If pressed, I'll go with Byrd by close decision.
This is the kind of matchup that gets my pulse racing! Ruiz had the deepest bag of tricks in the division and the most passionate corner. A masterful operator, he secures a UD over Byrd knocking him down in the 10th.
