Chayaphon Moonsri, longtime WBC minimumweight champion of the world, who surpassed Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the best boxer ever more than one year ago, has solidified his status by beating #4 ranked challenger (by BoxRec) and IBO champion Simpiwe Konkco by very wide UD. Moonsri improved his record to 54-0 while having 11 successful defense of WBC title. That means that even if he retires now, Floyd Mayweather Jr. would need to come back and beat at least 5 MMA fighters and midgets from kickboxing to be able to call himself TBE again
He's been racking them up nicely, it'll be interesting to see how far he goes as he's 34. I'd like to see a unification or a couple top 5 opponents or something that can make him a bigger historical note in the division.
why was his fight in Thailand again wasn't it meant to be in South Africa? anyways he's still (T)hailand's (B)est (E)ver and (T)he (M)enayothin (T)eam will be happy 54-0 All hail 'Five Star Grilled Chicken'
Who has the record? Julio Cesar Chavez made it to 89-0 or something like that. Will that ever be topped?
nobody makes that without being a bumbasher. 50-0 isn't that special unless you're a heavyweight, but once you're getting to 60-0 at other weights you're dining at the big boys table.
Yeah, historically I mean. The joke is that Floyd and his fans made a big deal out of it like he had broken some bigtime record, while it "only" was the retirement record with stipulation of no draws or no-contests. While the actual records are either meant as the heavyweight record (Marciano's) or the wins in a row from careeer start record (Chavez) or the total win streak record (Wilde I believe), which are completely out of reach
Either way, Floyd is behind Ricardo Lopez. It's all whatever. A dude can fight debuting eighteen year old fighters 89 times, win them all, then win a fluke TKO on cuts against a guy for the vacant WBA "regular" title and it would all level out to somewhere around Pawel Wolak. EDIT: *below; I meant no disrespect to Sir Pawel.
Wanheng is awesome but needs better opposition to really be recognised. I can't really say his is stronger than Ricardo Lopez, and his wasn't exactly flush by any means. Some trivia. Jimmy Wilde was 93 - 0 - 1 / 103 - 0 - 1 depending on the source. Pep was also 62 - 0 before he lost. Olivares was 61 - 0 - 1 (59 kos) before losing.
54-0. Nuff said. Plus he did it without getting caught with IV fluids that surprisingly still gets swept under the rug in these boards.
