Canelo lost the first time to GGG but won the second GGG fight IMO only and also to the judges.
Canelo already has improved his game to where he is almost at his peak and Krusher is on the slide at his age and game.

Now this is a very courageous fight for Big Red. I was at first sold on Canelo taking this fight until I read the predictions and breakdown from @CST80 who spells it out the way it SHOULD play out in reality. Now CST and I disagree on some of the past wins from Canelo but his breakdown for this fight is spot on IMO.

Even this older, slower Krusher is still a wreaking ball for any guy, even Big Red, jumping up from MW to LHW to face Krusher.

GGG has never beaten Canelo. You are delusional. The first fight with GGG Canelo put on a clinic.

Kovalev knocks out Alvarez in 2, people don't seem to understand that there are weight classes for a reason and once he starts hitting Canela with a jab he'll wonder why he took this fight.

To the OP, I think the other fighters were lacking the authoritative jab and were being outclassed in the inside against a faster and more elusive Canelo. But Kovalev plan is not to fight within the range of Canelo punches. He can fight the exact same as GGG and win, because he has a reach and power advantage. Kovalev is just too big.

I don't know where that comes from but power is the last thing that goes away with age, according to former heavyweight champion Foreman. Speed is what goes away first. I think Kovalev speed is still very good. Last fight his speed was the same as Yarde. Many regards Yarde as a very fast fighter. And he is.

I think it is deceptive, if you think Kovalev is slow, it must come from his own technique of throwing punch. In his preparation for the upcoming fight here you see more of his handspeed

If Kova is smart I think he fights Canelo as he fought Yarde. If he does he will win the fight behind his jab imo. Maybe will Canelo even be ripe for the stoppage late on, but probably not.

But if he let's his pride get the best of him and he wants to take the fight to Canelo, I'd probably make Canelo the favourite. Hard to say, though, since Canelo's stamina in the late rounds isn't that great either.

Kovalev ended up becoming more tentative, reduced to a jabber, and was afraid of the counters. He should have gone balls out and would have had a better chance.

Its come to seem it's really the only punch they can effectively land on Canelo.
