He was brought in to lose against Joel Diaz Jr. He pulled the upset off and went on to have favorable match ups. Flanagan is not a 140 pounder, and Relikh was never that good. Remember a shot to bits Burns had an extremely close fight with him. I never understood the Prograis hype. Post from 2018 https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...ed-or-ryan-martin.618350/page-3#post-19512938 Some people just aren't good at eye tests. Prograis is definitely a good fighter but never was close to special. Taylor isn't either. But I don't really see people overrating Taylor like that, so I don't really want to attack him. He's a good fighter with a **** ton of heart and deserves respect for entering the WBSS.
taylor has a chance to be special if he can overpower the 147 fighters on the inside like he does against the 140 fighters.
Yeah, I mean both Prograis and Taylor are tough, quality fighters, but neither guy is anything special. Prograis will run into some people in the coming years who have his number as he leaves a lot to be desired from a fundamental and technical standpoint. And Taylor wont have much success north of 140.
Prograis would of been Crawford’ If Crawford had fought Prograis he would of been by far his best opponent at 140, Prograis dealt with Indongo just as if not more easily. Prograis is the goods as is Taylor.
Let´s see... Dominated Flanagan. Demolished Indongo just like Crawford did. Annihilated Relikh. So at least he is better than someone like that. (same Relikh who dominated Barthelemy) And he barely lost to Taylor. So it´s clear that Prograis is really ****ing good. He might not be special, but he is far from an overachiever. ****, I don´t even understand how you yourself can call him an overachiever, because you absolutely belittled his opposition.
I call him an overachiever because I don't think he was ever supposed to be in the position to be world champ. No one knew who Prograis was prior to his upset against Diaz. Also, I don't consider Taylor really ****ing good, and Prograis lost to him so I wouldn't consider him that either. Like I predicted for years, Prograis was overrated by a lot of posters on here. People on here are "shocked" that Prograis somewhat got exposed, but I always knew he was at this level.
I agree with you. I was thinking about the best to describe Prograis. But you summed it up well. He doesn't do anything special. Not a special fighter. He is a midget for the weight. Not overly fast or powerful.Very flat footed. His offense is meh and defense is meh!
Exactly. I been saying this for ages, but he was so popular on this forum for some odd reason. Prograis wouldn't even be top 5 WW. He's below Pac, Spence, Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Crawford easily. I don't even know if I would pick him to beat Ugas. Also would pick Mikey Garcia to beat him.
