I’ve been watching boxing for 30 years. Pascal was past prime and got destroyed twice, Hopkins was ancient, decent win but nothing more. Yarde gave Kov more to worry about than both. If you don’t understand, don’t worry about it.
Depends on the scenario, but Canelo deserves respect for jumping to 175 which I think is probably his correct weight, not that any fighters fight at their correct weight mind. But let’s be honest Kovalev is at the tail end of his career and isn’t the beast he once was hence Canelo picking him. Again it’s not an easy pick but he’s the best name out of the champions but he’s not at the best time in his respective career. That's not to say it’s not a great fight, it is and win or lose Canelo deserves credit.
Im certainly not worried about it. Pascal won more than 1 round in both his fights separately. Yarde has proven nothing outside of winning the 8th.
He did? I remember Kovalev blowing him away twice with ease. He shut ol’ man Nard out 12-0. Yarde gave Kovalev more to worry about than those 2 did over 3 fights. Plain facts.
Hopkins didn’t win a round but he was a much better win than Yarde, the Kovalev that beat Hopkins was better than the version who beat Yarde. Yarde is not one of Sergey’s best victories.
He hasn't beaten anyone as good as Cleverly, Campillo or Chilemba. It isn't about kidding myself, it's about the reality that those guys have done a lot more than he has.
