You can be fan of both. I don't understand why the narrative toward this fight forces Canelo fans on one side and Kovalev fans on the other. It has to be a confrontational passion it seems.

I’m not a fan of either. But Canelo fans are prepared for all possible outcomes, but Kovalev diehard fans seem to be convinced that he’ll hurt Canelo with everything he throws and dominate him. Which is why I think they’re in for a shock, as I’m picking Canelo to win big.

Um, yeah, so, he definitely was not a 160 pounder from day 1.

Look up when he started competing at 160.

He's 5'8". He's undersized at Middleweight, same as all the majority of us said, myself included. We've been proven wrong to this point, but physical dimensions are what they are.

your one of the most knowledgable posters on here. Please can you try and explain why the bookies have caleno as 2/9 favourite and kovalev as 30/10. I was going to place a big bet on kovalev but i was expecting the odds to be ablot closer. Why do they have canelo such a huge favurite?

Do you know why the Yankees win every year? Nobody can keep their eyes off the pinstripes.

The reason Canelo is such a big favorite is because it's Canelo, P4P #1 and boxing superstar. Plus Kovalev is perceived to be shot (which is completely false, Ali versus Holmes is shot; Kovalev is just slightly past his prime). Boxing insiders and fans seem to think Kovalev is just going to fold when Canelo lands some body punches, even though Kovalev has never really been stopped off of only body shots. Even if you believe Ward stopped him legit in the second fight, it was a big shot to Kovalev's temple that messed him up, not the body shots. And Canelo is not a big puncher even at MW, he's going to be less of one at 175 pounds.

I also think Canelo is at a stylistic disadvantage here against Kovalev because he doesn't have the legs to get inside on him (he ain't winning on the outside, he'll get picked apart). Canelo is not Pacquiao. All in all, Canelo is in for a rough night. I'll be surprised if he wins to be honest.

Full disclosure, I have money on Kovalev so that could make me biased. But I don't see Canelo winning and I think the betting market is overreacting because it's Canelo.

Isn't it one of the most intriguing fight in history? The odds, the predictions, the risk, also the legacy on the table.

I can see Canelo winning the fight on points and only if Kov is as shot as everybody is saying he is.
I will give him full props if he does beat Kov though.

The thing to watch here is how well they both move around the ring.
That will be key for both fighters, and in this regard, I think a non-shot version of Kov will be able to man handle Canelo all night.

Not sure that will happen as canelo is a little soild block & strong .
The main reason I say this though is an Interview with Ward where Ward says how Kovalaev undoubtedly has the KO power with a jab but was surprised that in the clinches that Kovavlev was not that strong.
I think Canelo will be stronger but does not hit as hard as kovalev & I feel canelo has the edge on boxing skills ...so if no nonsense happens it should be a cracking fight!

Some of the newbies are picking Kova to stop him with a "jab" those comments will look funny as hell when Canelo beats him .

It's insane that there are so many people picking Canelo to win, and by stoppage at that. I've never seen such disregard for a bigger man.

Because they're letting name recognition, prevailing notions that dominate recent narratives and the perception of flaws and weaknesses in Kovalev dictate to them how the fight will play out instead of taking styles, size, power, length, range, logic, reason and rationale into the equation. In other words, they're letting groupthink and mass hysteria get the best of them.

If Kovalev beats Canelo, he either gets a lucrative rematch or a unification with rival Beterbiev.
