Meldrick Taylor was a very fast man indeed. Yet when Taylor was 19 and in the amateurs, he fought a man named Adolfo Horta who matched, and sometimes exceeded, the ridiculously fast hands of a teenaged Taylor. Horta was exceptionally quick with a beautiful style. He could have been somebody in the pro ranks.
Not yet mentioned is Howard Davis Jr who was diseased with speed. Bernard Taylor had some swoosh too.
Some of the guys on the vid seemed as quick as Roy, maybe you mean P4P, but surely Tyson as a superfast heavyweight would be in the running too.
I don`t think the combo`s Nunn threw at Tate when finishing him were as quick as some of the combo`s on the vid I pasted, it wasn`t an impressive TKO, plenty of former middleweight greats would have thrown and landed more on Tate, Nunn looked pretty quick, but I wasn`t impressed at all.
Joe didn't hit the bag like Josh Warrington. Joe's drills were more for stamina than speed. Joe's a very strange character. He's got a huge ego but has always had confidence issues. Before he fought Roy, he told everyone that Roy was shot and that a fight would be pointless. But then during the filming of HBO's 24/7 shows that you're referring to, he said that when Roy declined his challenge he knew that he'd got him. WTF was all that about? He knew that he had him before he signed the contract. Although nobody could match Joe's fitness and stamina, he could never match Roy's hand speed. No particular order. Hector Camacho Sr. At Jr lightweight, untouchable. Mel Taylor. fast as hell, but little pop. Howard Davis . See M.Taylor R.Jones Jr. A devastating/ Frightening combination of hand and foot speed. T.Hearns. watch his welter/jr. Middle fights if you don't believe me. T.Norris. extremely fast. Had ATG ability Lonnie Smith, fast. But average ability. P.Whitaker just wow....... M .Dokes very fast possibly fastest hands at heavy. F Patterson right up their with Dokes. M.Nunn . Tall very fast hand and feet. And a damn southpaw. A very scary combination. Ismael Laguna top 10 speed at lightweight. Joe Louis average at best foot speed, but his combination of speed, technique, and power probably best in Heavy history. R.Leonard top 3-4 in history at welter, probably # 2 with combination of speed AND power behind only that Other Sugar Ray. That other Sugar Ray.
