What went wrong is that he was TKOd, have you seen the fight?

He got TKOd because of he had to bad of a chin to withstand the punches he took. To bad stamina to keep his defence and movement to avoid the punched he took. And to little heart to keep going after taking the punches he took.

He got outboxed pure and simple. He had no answers for what Ruiz was bringing. He looked frustrated, bewildered and like he lost hope.

Make no mistake though, he got outboxed.

I think what happened in Joshua/Ruiz is the same thing that happened in Klitschko/Brewster 1. They had their man hurt and got carried away looking for the finish. It cost them both big. I think Joshua just can’t get carried away this time. Gotta keep your composure. Klitschko definitely learned from his mistake. Let’s see if Joshua can too

A little different I think. Klitschko punched himself out over several rounds. He beat on Brewster until he could almost not stand.
I dont know how many punches Klitschko hit Brewster with but it was dozens for sure. He had literally nothing left to defend, evade or withstand Brewster's counterattack.

Joshua got a few clean blows on Ruiz but it's not like he was pummeling him. Most of his punches were blocked or evaded. Ruiz was skilled enough to defend against Joshua's offense and then effectively counterpunch.

Styles make fights and Ruiz's skills outmatched Joshua's on that night.

Brewster at his peak had an unreal ability to take punishment. He was resilient as flock. I wouldnt put Ruiz in that category yet. He has a good chin but is also a good boxer and is not usually there to be tee'd off on.

Oh no has somebody made a thread mocking deontay wilder today? That's usually when we see these salty Joshua threads like it's some sort of retaliation

I don't think his chin is of particular issue. His stamina more so and the fact he was outboxed really. Ruiz took centre of the ring and made him work and hit the body plenty too. AJ couldn't keep going. He landed a nice combination when he dropped Ruiz and then threw the same one another 3 damn times, despite the fact his hooks were being countered. He fought like a dummy

AJ got overconfident with a flash KD of Ruiz and went in like he was on his way out - Ruiz wasnt hurt and got AJ with a shot and he never recovered.

Playing devils advocate here. Whilst Ruiz win was very deserved, but AJ and the promotional side put so much pressure on themselves for the "big" American debut it took it's toll. The flash knockdown Ruiz wasn't hurt just off balance but that was enough for AJ to go for the kill and Ruiz countered him perfectly each time.

I expect a different approach all together, Parker like I think. A lot more reserved. But of Ruiz sticks it on Joshua how will cope.

A lot variables and questions to answer in the rematch.
