And I'm not even a canelo fan.

But in an Era where we have dudes hiding in the amateurs until they are 30, then getting called ATG for 15 wins vs average opponents, Alvarez has pushed himself to the absoloute limit and must be respected.

If he knocks this dude off at 175, this era is a rap, Canelo is the top guy and I don't even want to hear otherwise.

What about the handicap canelo has that he's a damn midget going up against a man far bigger than him. Oh he can only put on 10lb in 24 hours for a morning weigh in before he's had breakfast or anything to eat, easy.

I'm a huge, huge, Canelo fan, probably the biggest around, but even I have to admit that if a rehydration clause has no effect, then there's no practical reason to have one, other than to look stupid. So, I'm just going to put down this Canelo picture I have been polishing, and admit that he's weight draining Kovalev to weaken him, just like Fielding, Jacobs, Chavez etc.

(Lara and Trout wins being highly controversial)

Usyk and Loma have more impressive wins already. Josh Taylor and Callum Smith will probably have a better resume in a year or two as well.

So - no, not even close.

 

If he wins it's a very solid decade, though with the PED cloud hanging over his head and 5 potential losses not accounted for, I'd reserve my judgement to call him the best post-Floyd/JMM/Pac. There's Inoue, Crawford and Loma also doing plenty good and with far less controversy, but Nelo still has a shiny fine resume definitely elevated even if he defeats an old Kov.
