I do agree, if a fighter is going to win, win it right. Look at the all time greats in the past, Arguello, Monzon, and Tyson. They did not receive gift wrapped decisions, when it was not even their birthdays or Christmas, or even have a Santa named St. Oscar, instead of St. Nick.

You can't compare the two. What do you think the backlash would be if GGG had failed drug tests?

When you're the cash cow, most people will support you. Most people are followers in that regard. Its marketing. Plus it helps when you have a mexican fan base. They're as supportive as it gets. Hell if you support Julio Caesar Chavez jr.....

A gift decision is a gift decision...
Ward gets plenty of backlash even though a lot people still say he won the first Ward fight, and there was no failed drug test.
Same with Floyd vs JC Castillo, also a fight plenty of people stay say was a legit win but Floyd has had plenty of backlash....
What makes GG so special that he should be immune to backlash on dubious decisions?
At last Floyd and Ward gave rematches to JC and Kovalev and put matters to rest
GG expressed no interest in ever getting back in the ring with Jacobs

As a boxing fan I don't give two s**** about a fighters character or personality so as long as he seeks to fight top opposition. That is all I care about.

To answer the thread question; Because he's one of the few fighters in his prime that is willing to take challenges, fight other prime fighters, concede to weight, and money demands to make fights happen. Because he is clearly a true student of the sport, takes his craft seriously when many fighters out there today do not.

    That's why.

I gave Chavez jr the benefit of the doubt for a long time, until he stopped deserving the benefit of the doubt.

Nah man its apples and oranges. Being in a close fight doesn't and getting a disputed decision doesn't equal corruption. You have disputed decisions all the time.
Failing drug tests and and outrageous scorecards will have people raise eyebrows no matter who you are.

Be honest with yourself what was more ridiculous, 115-112 . GGG over Jacob's. 115-112 GGG over Sergiy or 114-114 Mayweather and Alvarez?

Though not nearly as talented as his father, Jr. had world level talent and the potential to reach higher levels than he did. A true waste, but who can blame him, he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. He did not need to get his head bashed in for a living.

Both klits have tested dirty. So did fury. So did dillian Whyte and bjs. The country of russia was banned from the olympics because of a government administered ped initiative. Countless others have given reasons to be suspicious of. Spare us the fake outrage. It's a sportwide issue. to villify one and ignore everything else is akin to burrying your head in the sand

    To
To be perfectly honest with you, I have never gotten hung up on scorecards. I rarely score fights at home , in fact I never score fights at home....
I just go off the eyeball test over the course of a fight. 114-114 does in the Mayweather vs canelo fight does seem a bit ridiculous, but im not holding Canelo accountable for that.
I just remember everyone saying that GGG was going to walk Canelo down and pummell him into submission along the ropes and GG never came close to doing so.
In the GG vs Jacobs fight, much like the Ward Kovalev first fight, I remember GG dropping Jacobs early on but failing to capitalize, and allowing Jacobs back into the fight and basically be fighting on even terms by the end of the fight.
Most big name guys have gotten the benefit of a gift decision from time to time. It's always just been curious to me the selective outrage by the fans.

GGG is probably the best and most recent example i can think of.
