Tyson Fury’s match with Braun Strowman was more realistic than this fight.

Kovalev is too proud to take a dive stop.

That's because he's a very old 36, hasn't been in his prime for 5 years and is a pale one-handed shadow of his former self. Hence, why Clenelo signed on the dotted line.

Kovalev looked like he was trying to fight like Calzaghe. But without the skill set. Also he never gained the much smaller Canelos respect. a prime Kovalev would have.

I had Canelo ahead by a couple rounds. Kovalev wasn't throwing with conviction off his jabs. Nor was he winning purely off the jab. Many of Kovalevs jabs were throw away punches to keep Canelo's guard busy. In no way were these jabs the same as the hard thudding jabs Golovkin was scoring and winning rounds with. Kovalev is good at what he does but he doesn't have much else to his arsenal and he has slipped just enough for a fighter of Canelo's caliber to keep Kovalev off rhythm the whole fight.

I'm glad kovalev fought Canelo before jumping into the ring with Beterbiev. Hopefully Kovalev rethinks his future plans.

People wondering why he was jabbing the whole fight.

I thought this was a boxing forum? With knowledgeable boxing fans?

Suppose it is just as easy to say Kovalev was doing as well as he was because of the jab, following Golovkin's mold in their first fight, as it is to question why he was so jab heavy.

This forum is so weird. Straight fanboys.

    - Glad the fight ended as it did. Or else it would have been like a 9-3 Kovalev win where he gets robbed. Was very afraid of that (and I was rooting for Kovaelv).

    - Canelo is very good at finishing fights. Once he sets you up it's over.

    - For the entire fight, Canelo had not only not hurt Kovalev it looked like he had no chance to hurt Kovalev. Kovalev may have felt the same, and that could have set up the ending. One little slip and that was it.

    - Kovalev's chin is gone.

It was a clear and obvious dive. He was inviting left hooks all night long, he never once tried countering them. He held back from throwing right hands.

That was a much greener Canelo.

It's good for Floyd's resume in a small way, but how much do Loma's wins do for Salido ?
