Jacobs has never been able to take a punch, where was the spectacular KO there?

HAHA. I wonder if the judges gave Canelo round 8?

Kov was too concerned about making it through the fight so he wasn't engaging Canelo. No stamina left.

This whole fight has felt a bit weird even from the build up I tried ignoring it because it was such a good match up but that whole fight felt off. Kovalev looked so slow and didn’t commit to a single punch. Then the knockout comes from nowhere, no sweat/spit flying or clear force imo. Doesn’t sit right as much as I hate it

Well, can't argue with that result at least.

I wasn't looking forward to another 6 months of arguing with the Canelistas about how a 9-3 sweep by Kovalev COULD, actually, if you watch it hanging upside down and squinting one eye and with the DAZN commentary turned up, translate into the 7-5 win by Canelo on the cards. That's not to mention the "b-b-but 1 power shot = 10 jabs" inanity.

Looks like Golden Spoon's gamble nearly blew up in their faces ... until it didn't.

That and policing him on the scales. Kovalev might have come in at or under 185lb anyway, but probably stressed himself into taking unnecessary precautionary shortcuts worrying about the stupid contractual obligations.

The shame of it is, this was a highly entertaining tactical chess match of the variety we don't often see. It was a very thrilling clash of styles for me, and I really think the high ring IQ's displayed by both guys are being grossly overlooked.

Apparently the judges had it 96 -94, 96-94, 95-95 in favour of Canelo.

BTW, you scored the fight perfectly tonight.

That is to say, you scored every round the way I did. :D

If he goes to the states the fight, he knows he needs a stoppage to win.

That's how every fighter should see it, they should go out and throw everything for 3-4-5 rounds and then quit on their stools and say "pointless, wasn't getting the KO so what's the point".

Pointless even dreaming you'll get a decision.

Now I'm happy Canelo had to wait for Nate Diaz, he deserves that embarrassment.
