I actually think Canelo should stay at LHW; bouncing around from one weight class to another will likely take its toll on him sooner than staying at the higher weight class.

Anyway, in spite of the fact that I had Kovalev ahead going into the 11th, I have to give Canelo props for the way he took care of business. He bided his time, defended quite well against Kovalev's jab and wore him down with pressure and an effective body attack. Kovalev wasn't able to land enough to bust him up, or to bring the right behind it with enough force to keep Canelo away. That allowed Canelo to turn up the heat in the 11th, and then finish off his exhausted foe once he had him hurt.

Kov was slower than Canelo which is why Kov didn't commit to the right hand. Canelo blocked a lot of Kovs shots. I didn't see a fix in this fight like some are saying. Kov kinda threw McGirt under the bus saying he was instructed to jab. McGirt gave the right instructions, but Kov just can't fight inside. He just jabs and grabs. He doesn't know how to block and parry, and roll with shots to the head and body. Everything is left right clinch.

Canelo deserves credit for superb defense and showed speed and power for the whole fight. Kov couldn't let his guard down for a second. Once he did, fight over.

First shot was to the back of the head. You can see Kovalev stumble slightly after it.

Not that it would have made a difference in the long run.

He hasn't fought an A level fighter in his prime his entire career which is entirely his fault, he's the biggest draw in the sport he can get anybody he wants in the ring. And he may actually fight Beterbiev now too since he's already over the hill himself, but not until 2021 though. Everybody just avoided him his entire career until he got older.

Of course. If the rehydration clause didnt matter they would have left it out. But they timed it perfectly: picked Kova right after a bruising fight and weight drained him into a shadow of himself. That shadow still was just about to win with one arm, but as we now see, the judges always had Canelo's back ;)

This whole Canelo thing is such a ruse. These poor mexicans need to start following other sports besides soccer and boxing. They worship this boxer like he's a God and dump their pockets in support on this guy who is nothing more than a very good boxer. The scorecards he continually gets are the stuff of sheer corruption. It's so sad.

Fight was close going into the championship rounds even his trainer admited to it. The Anti-Caneloites were watching this fight with their wishfull-thinking-glasses as usual.

Props to Canelo for sparing us from having to hear the cries of robbery from the GGGirls.

No, Kovalev definitely has a lot to be ashamed of.
    1. He got knocked out by a junior middleweight.
    2. He kind of looked like he might have taken a dive.
    3. He never tried to win the fight and threw pitty pat punches the whole way.
    4. His technique had no variety to it and he threw the same two or three punches over and over without ever going to the body.
    5. Alvarez didn't put on a master class in defense. He wasn't Floyd Mayweather or Willie Pep. He walked straight up to Kovalev with a high guard. That's it. Kovalev didn't need to be a genius to figure out some way around it.
    6. The fight was boring.
