Kovalev was shot at 36, and the main reason for that was his well documented love to alcohol and far from great work ethic.

Floyd Mayweather Junior - you can hate him for his personlity or his boring style - but he was ULTIMATE professional. He always trined extremely hard and didn't let other things in his life affect his boxing career. That's thе main reason why he was able to operate on the highest level at 36 and gave Canelo (greеn, but still) a boxing lesson.

Mayweather was once in a lifetime. I hope some of the keyboard warriors who dissed him appreciate him in the rear-view mirror. After all, after tonight, his leftovers is basically going to be considered indisputably ppp #1.

"While you're training, I'm training. While your sleeping, I'm training."

    Or something like that.

    His leftovers? Stop.

He was 23 going against a GOAT. No shame in that loss.

Be nice if they could run it back. Since age doesn't matter right?

    Think about it

Alvarez was also green and drained when he fought Mayweather. Let's not overrate that win.

The ****? It was Canelo's 40th or so fight. And Mayweather was, what, 38-39 at the time. He lost to the better man and that is all.

    Think about it.

I give Floyd credit for winning a title green against a very good champion in Hernandez that forced him to fight not run.
    @Big Ukrainian question:

Who was the greener lesser experienced fighter?
17-0 Floyd 2 yrs experience fighting 38-1 Hernandez for his 1st major title
Alvarez 42-0-1 & 6 yrs pro when he won several titles fighting. Had 8 yrs when he faced 44-0 Floyd

I would say Floyd had the lesser experience going for a title, least amount of time than Canelo.
So schooling a guy with 8 years experience...isn't IMO fighting a green foe. No rookie, just came across a guy who made Canelo looked like a rookie!

Was trying to find a way to say this. Had I gotten to the point I would've posted before you. You cut right to the point, but lets say I backed it up with undisputed facts!!!!

Floyd Mayweather's boxing brain, ring IQ, ring generalship, in-fight adjustments, boxing knowledge, skills and talent are completely unmatched.

No fighter today could beat him or even come close to winning more than say 3 rounds in a fight with him. From 154lbs and all the way down there is nobody today that can be matched favourably against Mayweather when he was active. Every single fighter at 130lbs and 135lbs gets KO'd by Mayweather in any kind of match-up.

Vargas was way younger and less experienced when he beat Winky Wright who was a great fighter. Well, it was a very close and probably even controversial win, but he fought prime and experienced version of Wright and was able to win 5-7 rounds. Canelo was about 3 years older and about 3 times more fights but was completely dominated by Floyd

Edit: just watched BoxRec for comparison - Vargas was 21-years-old 17-0 fighter when he fought Wright, Canelo was 23-years-old 42-0-1 fighter when he fought Floyd

Well, professionals get paid for their professionalism. Without his work ethic Floyd wouldn't have been able to be so successful.

It's just a great example to anyone. To his admirers and his haters.

floyd til his last days in the ring was training like he was the desperate poor challanger just looking for a shot to show the boxing world what he could do, of all his attributes, his focus is by far his best asset
