I'm slightly annoyed, but I can't deny the mans talent.

 

If he knew 100% that he can give up half of the fight and KO Kovalev in later rounds, it means he a ****ing oracle. But i think he was just confident that he gonna win anyway cuz of judges. KO was just a mix of many factors.

i agree. but, i believe canelo, in his mind, actually thought he was ahead on the cards. he sees the fight from a fighters point of view, hes the one backing kova up, hes the one landing the harder punches, hes the one setting the pace, hes the one forcing the clinches. why would he feel he was losing? to canelo, those timid taps on the gloves dont mean anything.

 

I still care. He ducked Golovkin for two years and the assholes at Ring just robbed Golovkin of his whole reign. Then they robbed him again and again when they finally fought. That **** rubs me raw.

 

What does the compubox look like? It didn't look like a lot of shots landed for either fighter. With Taylor vs Chavez 1 Taylor was up about two hundred punches.

 

The GGG situation was a disgrace and people won't forget it, even with this victory and P4P 1 spot.

Final thoughts.

Kovalev is in some ways the Sergio Martinez of LHW basically.. a guy who for a few years was a joy to watch but i suppose it was always going to end in a car crash..

SK is well aware of his own age & frailties at this point.. He doesn't throw power shots anymore because it leaves him open too much.. especially to a counter puncher like that.. all he does now is jab pretty much.. (it will work against inexperienced 1D guys like Yarde but not with Canelo..) his athleticism has depleted to an extent that his feet are almost leaden too.. he also jumped back into a fight way too quickly..

He cashed out. His choice. Sad to see but it is what it is.. the likes of Jones, Benn, Martinez etc alI went out in ways no one would want for them too but it happens.. I predicted the result & wasn't surprised after what I saw versus Yarde.. Kovalev is done. Enjoy the pension plan & thanks for the memories..

As for Canelo. I'd say fair play but you take drugs & chase the ageing fighters.. so ye, crack on lad.. smoke & mirrors a lot of your career.. you were 4 minutes away from losing to a spent force..

Here here. Honestly don’t understand all the conspiracy theory’s that people are coming up with. Yes I believe that Canelo has been protected by GBP but that has no effect on what happened in the fight. May not have been particularly entertaining to watch but what we witnessed was 2 men boxing to a set strategy and sticking to it.

 

So the official judges had Canelo winning.
