This could be nothing, as it was a fairly big event, but I found it interesting that there seemed to be quite a few Haymon people there last night. I saw the Watson boys, Broner, Gervonta Davis and a few other familiar Faces from Team PBC. Judging from his Twitter, I think even Stephen Espinoza was there. I wonder if something is going on behind the scenes as it’s very unusual as Haymon likes to close ranks behind his own shows...
The fighters being there is nothing. You get the likes of Yarde at Hearn shows etc. The execs is interesting (if you’re in to that sort of thing). Canelo is obviously unhappy with ODLH. On a side note did you see Davis and Broner who were once pals had a scrap backstage?
I just thought it was interesting as I’ve never seen Haymon’s Team at other recent Canelo /DAZN big fights and why was Espinoza there. It maybe nothing, but it wouldn’t shock me if Haymon is in negotiations to get some dates on DAZN. By the sounds of it, they really struggled to get the money together for Wilder - Ortiz and there is also no way DAZN are currently performing to their business target. I saw something on twitter last night about some scuffle, but didn’t really look into it as I was to interested in the UFC - I will check it out.
There was a SHOBOX card in Vegas the night before, Mayweather Promotions, it would explain them being there. Maybe decided to make a weekend of it?
they didn’t struggle so much for the money as much as it was that showtime couldn’t match what fox was paying. seems that showtime will slowly get out of the boxing business haymon is putting all his big fights on fox and leaving showtime with the shitty Robert easter fights for example.
