So, because I crossed my fingers and toes, threw logic and reason out of the window, and on a wing and a prayer, sheer stupidity and blind faith hoped with every fiber of my being that Kovalev in spite of all indications pointing to him being an absolute shell of the fighter he once was, due to years of alcohol abuse, several tough matches and brutal KO's, alongside being too small for Cruiserweight and too big for Light Heavyweight, having to drain himself, and with it losing his strength, stamina and power to make the limit. In the process making this once great fighter into a frail weakling who can't sit down on his punches due to fear of gassing in 4 rounds or less. Could someone pull out one last great performance, in spite of fighting for a third time in less than a year, only a little over 2 months removed from a fight in which he was most likely badly concussed and almost stopped in. That that somehow validates this travesty as anything but a win over a badly compromised shell of a fighter. Kiss my ass.

That being said, this feeble shell of a fighter was still winning this fight walking away with nothing but a flimsy jab. And your boy was a little over 3 minutes from being the recipient of yet another bought and paid for Golden Boy special. And with it, the last vestige of his credibility would have vanished. You're all so damn lucky he pulled off that Hail Mary. So you can all still cling to and promote your intellectually dishonest narrative that Canelo the PED cheat is a beast among men and all of his wins are over prime monsters, when the reality is anything but. Like I've said on several other threads today. I've never seen an ATG in the making with nothing but asterisks next to every important fight he's ever been involved with.

He's an impostor and a fraud, as are all of his fake ass despicable fans. Now tell us some more about how Amir Khan was a credible opponent.

i get what youre saying, and i understand the sentiment, but this is the real world, not the ideal world.
of course its a cherry pick, and it was a predictable cherry pick. and its the correct move for a fighter in his position, regardless of which little clique of fanboys this particular move feels is shady. beterviev is not a good move, and if it happens next, its because canelo has no ****s to give.

Rubio was widely considered a complete joke of an opponent for Pavlik half a decade before Golovkin fought him. Did you even exist back then to know this?.

It has everything to do with GGG and his fans. Every single thread/comment regarding Alvarez automatically attracts Golovkin fans like flies. Which is why you are here to begin with. Kindly refrain from acting like a smartass with me, you only embarrass yourself in the process.

These are tune-up quality opponents and paydays at best, nothing serious there and it’s nothing new either for great fighters to take on such fights. Literally everyone did/does it. Only difference is, his tune-up quality fights are on par with Golovkin’s biggest fights.

    Wasnt Rubio a mandatory?

How is Rubio one of his biggest fights? Also the same Rubio who was swatted away then moved up and fought a 1 fight removed champion in Dirrell going the full 12.

So again are those fighters better? If so please do explain clearly.

Mandatory or not, it was a complete joke fight. Wasn’t Golovkin like a 50/1 favorite there?. Rubio was publicly considered a joke when he fought Pavlik, and that was half a decade before Golovkin got to him. When you can’t find fights in your division, you have to move up and take risks. This is the way to score big money fights and secure greatness. It’s literally what every great fighter did.
