You can call Canelo a lot of things but lets not pretend he doesn't usually take the toughest fight.

That height discrepancy would make for an interesting dynamic. Think Canelo can get underneath him? How do think a fight between Canelo and a guy like Michael Nunn would go?

I just copied and pasted all the Kovalev votes at the time, which included mine. I wasn't really paying attention to anyone else. If he was in that group. Oh well... so be it. I guess I was wrong, inadvertently.

If Canelo fought Smith, his only chance of losing would be a KO. I think he’s smart enough to get through 12 rounds and get his arm raised no matter what happens between the first and final bell. Smith would best him legitimately, I believe. Beating a washed up alcoholic faded former champ is a long way from beating a decent fighter like Smith or a top SMW or LH. I am curious to see who Canelo fights next. Any other faded shot big names available? Is Roy Jones able to get a listener these days? Maybe drag Ward out of retirement? Lots of options, maybe John Ruiz at HW. It won’t be Beterbiev, there for sure. Probably won’t be Smith either.

No, Canelo is good but he isn't that good. Notice how he never fights prime fighters who'd be considered top dogs.

I'd give him a shot with any of them. I don't think he's a shoo in to beat any of the three, but nor do I think the opposite. Beterbiev is the top dog and deservedly so after the Gvozdyk fight and he is a beast, but the type of style that is more neutral for a defensively aware counterpuncher. Mind you, having watched the first Golovkin fight, it might be a tough ask against someone who is going to fight in the same way, but bigger, younger and fresher. Bivol is 50/50, not that he's all that, but I also think it's a toug style match up for Canelo versus a well schooled classic boxer with physical advantages. Gvozdyk I do think Canelo might beat, don't think he's all that really. The rest of the division is much of a muchness, some decent fighters but nothing exceptional.

Smith-Canelo that's a tough one. Watching Smith struggle with Skoglund you would have to favour Alvarez, but Smith also has big physical advantages and tends to turn up for the big occasions and fight down to the level of lesser threats.

So then why is Clenelo scared to fight him in MSG ?? Its because he knows in his heart GGG has always been the better man

I predict that 2020 will be when Smith stamps his authority.. he's a freak at 168.. he's got it all.. his catch left hook is a thing of beauty.. prime athletic SMW with skill, intelligence, beautiful shot selection & power..

    Behave.

At this stage, Callum would be a much bigger threat.
