"Two Ton" Tony V The "Wild Bull"? Galento who dropped Louis v Firpo who knocked Dempsey outa the ring? 10 rounds?
This would be dirty and brutal, and I'd pay top dollar for it If Galento comes in top condition (for Galento) I take him by late stoppage, similar to the Nova fight.
finally a fair match-up between these 2 guys. I personally think Galento would win this fight, and stop Firpo in around 7-8, in a better fight than some might think.
Firpo was a beast. A rare thing. and wild thing. He drew thousands of fans to his fights not because he was great boxer but because he was a sensationally explosive fighter. He was an enigma. And if you look at his career, just 36 fights spread over near 20 years. He came to America as an unknown South American champion with a 14-2 record in 1922. Within 15 months he had fought 12 more times and established himself as the logical contender to Jack Dempsey knocking out Jess Willard and Bill Brennan. He also knocked out Charlie Weinert quicker than Gene Tunney had..and Weinert went the distance with Sharkey and Harry Greb. so the guy was no joke. I think he made champions money. Because His fights were such big events in both the East coast boxing Mecca and in South America. people can say Firpo was a hype job or a flash in the pan.. but I think there must have been something there just to make that kind of impact with so few fights.
