Potential bantamweight unification. (if made today: WBA super world title and IBF world title at stake, 1st and 2nd defense respectively of Inoue; WBC at stake, 3rd defense of Oubaali). Potential FOTD.
I think Oubaali is very good but he isn't as good as that Donaire who showed up today. That was a special performance from both fighters and Oubaali can only dream to top that I believe. I have Inoue by stoppage, perhaps early on or mid rounds, depends how durable Oubaali is. He's yet to face a massive puncher and eat their big shots. Inoue proved he has quite the chin though. It's pretty hard to eat Donaire left hooks repeatedly but he managed it.
The speed of Inoue will be the hardest thing for Oubaali to cope with, IMO. Getting his respect if they swap power shots won't be an issue, as I do think Oubaali can thump as hard as some of the stuff Donaire landed on Inoue that caused him some alarm.
Hopefully its next. Ive a feeling in Inoue signs with TR, his next fight will be a showcase fight against a mandatory like Greer, who is with TR.
As you said in another thread, IB, the one guy who could've beaten Inoue at this weight just didn't. Inoue by stoppage.
Nobody even mention Nery, please...he's a non-entity. At the moment Inoue stands as "the man" with Oubaali as his closest runner-up. If they fight, winner should automatically be considered the newly reestablished lineal bantamweight champ (first since José Bernardo Piñango three decades ago)
Yep! Frightening thought, but this is exactly the type of win that can propel him to even higher heights.
So nobody was unnerved by how easily Donaire found (and rocked) Inoue with some of those hooks? Bear in mind, Oubaali would be throwing a left just as powerful (if not more) from a more unconventional angle, being a southpaw.. We're not saying puncher's chance for Nordine?
