If Donaire wants to stick around he has every right to pick and chose who he wants to fight between 118 and 126 IMO.
Well he beats anyone at 118 with the exception of Inoue I think he should retired, first ballot hall of famer!
He took a terrible beating from Inoue. I mean, kudos to him for sticking it out but if he wants any semblence of health down the road he best hang'em up. Nothing more to prove or fight for.
Maloney lost a SD to Rodriguez in the WBSS. I envision a action packed fight for as long as it lasts with Donaire eventually knocking him out.
Yes, I love Nonito and he doesn't need to fight anymore. He can get out and enjoy his life after a gutsy last hurrah. He will be 37 next week. Time to hang up the gloves, nothing left to prove and his prime has long past. I honestly wanted him to retire after losing to Magdaleno in '16. But now it's time for sure. It was one hell of a career Flash, thanks for the memories!
he took some gigantic shots. The straight right he got hit with in round 5 sounded like a baseball bat hitting a brick wall
If he still has the drive and desire, he should continue on. Dude is clearly one of the best at 118. Inoue should target Oubaali next. That would leave Donaire with Tete. Dang! I would love to see Donaire smash Tete.
I don't usually call for fighters to retire after a loss, but Donaire's starting to get that worn-out punchy look that you get from taking too much punishment over the course of a tough career. He's entering (probably already entered) that period when he'll be eroding genuine quality years off his life the longer he fights. It's his choice really, health or wealth. He could still make decent paydays for his family, though personally speaking no amount of money is worth having to see your dad sitting in an armchair staring blankly into space barely able to mumble your name twenty years down the line.
I'm in favor of him fighting on for one or two more go's but no Nery or anybody like that. A top 10 118 or bring up an interesting 115'er.
Yes he's had a fantastic career, he has nothing left to prove, he just took part in arguably FOTY, in which he gave one of the top 5 P4P best fighters on the planet everything they could handle, and fought his heart out and emerged with enormous credit, and he took an awful lot of very heavy shots to the head from one of the top 3 hardest punchers in the game P4P, and he has two adoring young sons to take care of. Providing he's financially secure, yes I think it's the perfect time to call it a day.
Nonito should immediately call out Kov at 175! If he makes it through the first 7-8 rounds, he can take him out late. Would be historic and according to the Canelo groupies, Kov is still prime, as good as ever. If he gets through Kov, call out the winner if AJ-Ruiz. Or would it be better to stop off at CW in his way up? You know, play it safe. He will need to hire Canelo’s nutritionist to safely gain muscle without breaking any anti doping rules. That guy is the best!
