I always love the "she would beat you up" argument. Talk about judging others by your own low standards. You might be some out of shape weakling who would get beat up by a 9 stone spit arse, but I can assure you that doesn't automatically apply to the rest of us.
But it’s all about equality innit, someone should really tell the SJW woke lot that all they are really achieving is reverse discrimination/racism. Personally i don’t have a issue with women boxing or participating in any other sport, what I have a issue with is it being forced down my throat, let them have their own shows see what a success it is then, call me old fashioned I don’t care how good women are or get in the future I don’t want to watch two women punch each other in the face period.
I hope that is the case, Taylor has been great for the womens sport, a dedicated pro that has achieved great things. Her career is almost over now though and I don't really know who the next big talent from here is going to be, Hearn lives in a dream world where Shannon Courtenay is going to take over but she's not cut from the same cloth as Taylor, one look at her Insta will tell you that. For me that's the problem for women's boxing, the lack of a steady stream of decent enough talent coming through to make it competitive and pull in more fans.
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that people interested enough in boxing to spend their time discussing it online, may also at some point have decided to train or even compete in said activity themselves. Ironically, the female fighters themselves in my experience are often more realistic about their abilities than casual observers. A female pro MMA fighter I knew was pretty matter of fact about the limitations of being a 9st woman in a fight. She freely acknowledged that no matter how hard she trained there could be some meathead off the street with no training who could give her hell in a real-life fight. Germaine De Randamie (Dutch kickboxer and MMA fighter) fought a Belgian actor (Tom Waes) in an exhibition a few years ago. He had a few months training I think and outweighed her by a bit, but gave her a decent scrap before she clocked him. He was in his 40s at the time as well. Size and strength are huge factors in any combat situation.
Shannon Courtenay will get smashed up the first time she steps up. She isn’t representative of the standard of female boxing imo. The only reason she’s getting so much exposure is because she’s a good looking girl and Hearn is subsequently shoving her down people’s throats. If she looked like a gruffalo, she’d wouldn’t have had a single opportunity. Blame Hearn for that one. I bet there are a big number of amateur female boxers who are many times better than her who will never get that kind of exposure.
To be fair, she's right up my alley how she looks there. The reason I quoted is because that predator line is brilliant genuinely laughing, going to use that one for the future!
Yeah, I remember that Germaine De Randamie fight. The bloke was nearly 50, had never done any combat sports before in his life and took the fight for a TV series he was doing where he did a different challenge in each episode. It took her till the 4th round to stop him and before he gassed he was actually causing her all sorts of problems, which should tell you all you need to know really.
Great to look at but those surgically enhanced beauties must be a slight problem! This content is protected
