If there is a fighter today that deserves the franchise belt it's Pacquiao. Canelo, Inoue, Bud, Wilder, Spence and many others shouldn't even think about taking the "franchise belt". The franchise belt is for champions who won't face mandatories. Some people think that they've earned the right to NOT face a mandatory. Pac is the only fighter today who if he was looking for a big fight rather than face a mandatory that I would be ok with. Other than that boxing doesn't need the franchise title. No guy in his prime should accept that belt.
There is nothing easy about fighting mandatories. Just because you the seat belt fan thinks so doesn't mean that they are.
There's a huge difference between a mandatory like Stiverne or a mandatory like Fury. Both WBC mandatories for the 200+ belt, but levels apart in ability. Plus there's also the mandatories that are almost certain their side wins the pursebid and thus you have to go to their backyard, with their referee and judges. HUGE difference.
As far as I understand it, "Franchise Champion" means he is WBC champion forever. Basically, whatever weight-class he moves into, he is the WBC champion of that weight class. Yet beating him doesn't make YOU the WBC champion, you have to beat the actual WBC champion of your weight class, and if you do you are still not the real WBC champion of your weight class, it is still the Franchise Champion until he moves on to a different weight class. Which means that the WBC Franchise Champion can unify at any division he enters immediately, but if the WBC champion unifies, or someone else beats the WBC Champion and unifies, they are not the undisputed champion, because the WBC Franchise Champion is the REAL WBC champion. And if you beat the Franchise Champion...you are still not undisputed, because the Franchise Champion can never lose the Franchise title and... This content is protected
Stiverne says otherwise. There is nothing easy about fighting mandatories unless your name is Deontay Wilder and PBC and can effectively choose who you want to fight.
A mandatory is a mandatory. Even though they never fought, Povetkin getting the fight at home vs Wilder was sick.
Hmmm notice it’s only the wbc catching people? As much **** the wbc gets they are the only sanctioning body catching left abs right!
Who has a WBC nabbing seriously effected? I think you casting aspersions on Inoue here is a little out of line all things considered.
Im actually fairly unbiased. I dont care who wins just want to see the fights. The only issue I do not like is how PBC are not open to working with others unless they benefit. They try to keep things in house which I am not a fan of. I also think WBC is a very corrupt organisation that protect the fighters that give them the highest sanctioning fees. I think Dillian Whyte is due a mandatory and shouldbe fighting for the mandatory this year let alone 2021.
