This was my Top 10 Mexican list from a while back.

    Ruben Olivares
    Salvador Sanchez
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Vicente Saldivar
    Miguel Canto

    Chucho Castillo
    Carlos Zarate
    Erik Morales
    Marco Antonio Barrera
    Baby Arizmendi

Canelo could break into the really low 10 (literally number 10), depending on your criteria, though I personally wouldn't. He is an extremely talented fighter, of course, but Mexico's Boxing history is extremely deep. Thinking about it, I'd probably put Morales and Barrera over Zarate now. I could also replace number 10 with a few fighters, as it was my weakest pick. Maybe Rafael Herrera or even Canelo himself, among others.

Top 5 are absolute locks and they will never change. The only thing that might change is the order.

I think you're rating Barrera too high. His best win is a controversial win over Morales, and then Naseem Hamed. I would rank Canelo above Barrera right now.

I could see it, but these Mexicans are very hard to rank. The only solids for me are the top 5.

What's equally impressive is that Canelo has had success at higher weights.
Mexicans have typically dominated 147 and below.
This new era of Mexican HW champs and LtHvy champs is something new

I don't have Canelo on par with say Chavez, Sanchez, Lopez, and Marquez to name fighters of the last 40 years, but I do think he's right there with Morales and Barrera allready.
Don't think one is really going to get a sense if Canelo belongs in the mention with the top 5 Mexican fighters of all-time until he's at least at the latter end of his career.

I'm not gonna pick through it bit by bit, but I think you're being old timey with your list. Marquez and Morales each beat Pacquiao which is a better singular scalp than anyone in your top 5 can claim.

I have Marquez, Morales, and now Canelo in the top 5 with Chavez and Sanchez.

No way a Ped's cheat can ever be considered in a REAL boxing fans top P4P. Also consider that without corruption in Vegas Ginger would have FIVE losses
