Eubank is ranked 17th in the Top 20 P4P list compiled by boxrec! Does he deserve to be ranked that high after being completely exposed by Groves?
It is my best understanding that Boxrec compiles all of their ratings by combining a fighters own Win Loss record against the win loss stats of all of their opponents, taking into account the strength of opposition as rated by their own system. You notice each fighter has an overall number rating. So Eubank is being rated based upon the stats of all of his opponents, not just his own. Therefore a fighter who has faced more competition with above average Boxrec ratings will rank higher himself. Its exactly why Canelo is rated so high. Even if hes fought a few guys past their primes, like Mosely for example, those fighters had their own high ratings which then elevated Canelo's rating to where it is today. With regard to Eubank, even if he had a bad performance against groves, he has still fought several highly rated fighters, whether they were past prime or not, and that is why he is rated where he is. I actually like the Boxrec rating system
Because he is a WARRIOR! He follows the WARRIORS CODE*! *warriors code may be in the form of a few quid in the odd pocket or two.
Here we go again! Someone complaining about the BoxRec rankings. Oakland Billy Smith summarized it perfectly. Boxrec rankings should rarely be taken at face value.
Because a certain element of muppet trash worship him and his father. This means they pay to watch him and he becomes 'marketable' and wealthy. The muppet trash now worship him even more because they see a flashy car and other bull**** trappings they provided him with. Thus there is now incentive to have him ranked high so that more money can be made from the muppet trash. Eubank Jr has had 30 bouts and his only world class wins are against two completely shot ex champions in Abraham and Degale, meaning they're not world class wins. People often talk about 'shotness', but Degale's level of shotness was on a different level of shotness, particularly considering his age. He basically had brain damage at that point. Despite this record of Eubank, he is a 'star' as we speak. And he's about to fight another over the hill ex champion.
Goddammit!!!!! Arghhhh!!!! What the ****? Wait...... it's Boxrec you say? Nevermind. I'll save my rage for something that actually matters.
