Deontay Leshun Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II

So here's a question - if he springs the upset, does Ortiz take Wilder's place for that February 22nd defense against Tyson Fury?

Or does Wilder's team have a clause for an immediate rubber match? (which effectively means Fury would have to wait on the sidelines, and could result in him just shrugging and retiring for a still lucrative and relatively less injury-prone career in WWE...)

 

Why would Fury have any relevance with no contract with Ortiz ? Obviously a rematch with Ortiz would take place in a 3rd fight if Ortiz takes wilders belt, not only that do you think the corrupt doings of Haymon/WBC let Ortiz walk away with that belt to fight Fury even if it was somehow manageable ? WHAT.....

 

That would put WBC in totally awkward situation as they are Haymon's pet.
No way Ortiz-Fury happens, WBC will weasel their way out of it.

Haymon will keep the belt in-house by ordering Wilder rematch or if Ruiz wins, Haymon will make Ruiz jr-Ortiz.

 

I'm a Ortiz fan and i really admit father time is catching up with him recently. I think this COULD be his last fight - potentially. I hope he can pull it off somehow, he's the superior boxer and has the better overall skillset for sure. Wilder can chin him again, no question, but i'm gonna stick with my ol boi King Kong here.

Ortiz beats Aj, Ruiz, Fury, just not Wilder

 

I thought Ortiz's southpaw stance and counter punching ability really troubled the hell out of Wilder prior to the first knockdown. I wonder if Ortiz with his experience and craft can cause the same issues again or did Wilder figure him out and the difficulties in fight 1 wont be present in fight 2.

I expect Wilder to win another stoppage here. I dont hate this fight, I like the idea of taking guys who gave him hard fights and putting to bed any notion hes not superior and thats why I hope he wins big here and moves on to Fury again.

In reality there is only one other really qualified guy not tied up and thats Whyte.

 

Ortiz looks in phenomenal shape. Cannot wait for this one!

I think Ortiz has been overhyped.

Do not think he beats Whyte, Joshua, Ruiz etc.

I would like to see him fight another top boxer after Wilder to see if I am right, but have my doubts that will happen.

Ask me a few months ago and I would’ve said Wilder early KO without a second thought, but as the fight’s been drawing closer I’ve been getting a strange feeling in my gut....Ortiz comes across as a remarkably stubborn man, so maybe I was little quick to assume to some he’d utterly incapable of making meaningful adjustments for this rematch due to the ravages of age. I really really hope I’m right, because I’ll be buying this potentially pointless fight one way or the other. Grandpa and Fat Kid for Unifed HW Championship of the World 2020.

Ortiz being overlooked in this fight. Still say hes the most skilled heavyweight out there. Unfortunately hes no good at leading. Hence the reason wilder picked him as an opponent for the first fight. His first decent opponent. They had to fight someone good eventually....they did in ortiz. But they knew he,s average at leading. Hes predominentely a counterpuncher.

Turned out contrary to reports that wilder had the length advantage. Pretty sure ortiz was down as having a ridiculous reach....turned out it was a lie tho. Even then ortiz was outboxing wilder. I still say its a bannana skin fight tho. Ortiz is too good to go in and try to blitz out. If wilder makes that mistake...he,ll pay for it. He got the win because he used his length very well the first fight...he made ortiz reluctant to come inside against him. Wilder fought a good fight....by being cagey. Staying on ghe outside. Made ortiz reluctant to move in on him. If he gives that distance up too early ortiz will hurt him first i reckon. Hes a big strong unit ortiz. Wilder got his success by being patient....mixing it up as opposed to jumping in without much thought.
