Margarito's eye plumped up with the first flush punch Cotton landed in the rematch. Kell Brook's was tenderized for Spence to break the other one. I hope Inoue's career isn't gonna be significantly shortened from this. Every single opponent going forward will terrorize that eye.

Luckily Inoue only has a fracture and not a broken bone, but it could always be worse than they let on. Also big problem if he starts sparring again before it fully recovers.

BOXER Anthony Ogogo has retired from the sport after admitting defeat in his bid to recover from sickening eye injuries. The London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist has not fought since October 2016 when he was stopped by Craig Cunningham in the eighth round. After the fight it was revealed that Ogogo had suffered a broken eye socket - in the ringside photos you can clearly see his eye hanging lower than it should. The 30-year-old uploaded an emotional seven page statement to his social media accounts where he spoke of his sadness that he has had to hang the gloves up for good. He also revealed he has had seven operations on his eyes in the last two-and-a-half years, and 17 in total throughout his career. The first part of the statement read: "Accepting the end gracefully is part of being a professional athlete. "Calling an end to dreams that are left unfulfilled is the hardest part. "Life is all about doing your best with the cards you have been dealt; that is what I have done time after time. "Sadly after 7 operations on my eyes in 2 and a half years, I am forced to admit they are too damaged for me to safely return to the boxing ring. "With a heavy heart I have to retire from professional boxing with my dreams unfulfilled." Ogogo suffered a dislocated eye socket in two places in his first ever pro defeat back in 2016 and hasn't fought for more than two years.' Ogogo's eye started bleeding when he was travelling on a train at one point But apparently Inoue doesn't require surgery on the eye so it can't be that bad. Or at least hopefully it isn't.
Broken/fractured orbital is never good, both physically but often more importantly psychologically. Can you imagine being able to fight fearlessly after you know your skull has been broken?
Like I've been saying for ages now, when Brook's other eye shattered in the Spence fight after that vicious head clash in round 8 it would've taken a huge mental toll on him because he knew there was a very good chance he'd have to go through everything he went through the first time he suffered a broken orbital socket again, and I mean both physically and psychologically. They had to remove his eyeball via his mouth FFS in order to repair the broken bone and not only did he not know if he'd ever be able to fight again but he'd been informed that he might not even be able to see out of it again. That was a very dark time for him and obviously the ghost of those dark times would've immediately returned to haunt him after his eye popped in round 8. Accusing him of being a quitter was totally uncalled for because both his career and sight were on the line.
