Contract is up in 2021 apparently. Coincidentally DAZN have just put a bid in for UK Champions League rights from 2021-24. Will Matchroom extend with Sky or are DAZN planning on launching in the UK with Matchroom boxing at the forefront with Champions League football?
AJ winning is so huge for DAZN boxing in this country. Apart from him who do they have to appeal to the casuals over here? By 2021 AJ could be alot less of an attraction then he is now.
Match room and sky are more than boxing Its darts and pool and all their other events. I'd be shocked if match room risked it. Good way to get more money from sky though...
Not gonna lie if DAZN UK launched and secured the rights to Matchroom boxing, UEFA Champions League and Europa League it would be a ****ing no brainer to subscribe.
BT paid 1.2 billion, obviously there is advertising etc but at £50 that was be 2,000,000 subscribers a year.
Then throw in Hearn saying Warrington has to be getting 7 figures a fight. Without PPV how much would that be for all of Hearns cards.
£12 max or DAZN can suck it. Agreed. I predicted from the outset that DAZN USA will still stage Matchroom boxing PPVs eventually in addition to the subscription fee despite Hearn’s promises not to. If Wilder beats Fury and AJ beats Ruiz, DAZN will milk it big time and a Wilder-AJ unification would definitely be a PPV on DAZN.
That’s not correct. That would be for one year. For the 3 years it would work out 6/700,000 subscribers but again that’s for the full package. It doesn’t look like there is a full package any more. It’s broken down like Premier League rights. So different games on different channels etc.
In US, HBO is dead and Showtime is losing ground too. PBC has all their 'good fights' now on FOX PPV, including Wilder-Ortiz. When Boxnation died SKY should have taken a notice. When your competition is dying something is amiss.
