I don’t think Saunders is the type of fighter who requires momentum. Before that schooling of Lemieux, the previous 2 years of very little activity showed no hint of the performance to come. He either decides to put a boxing exhibition on or he can’t be bothered. Part of me seriously thinks that he’s purposely looking out of sorts to make himself look like bait for an easy world title. For those who think this is far fetched, check my earlier post on this thread. He definitely has openly shared that thought process in the past about himself and Kell Brook.

On Saturday’s showing, Canelo does a Khan type finish on him, as he stayed in the pocket way too long and his opponent started timing him. That said, if he fought Canelo, I really believe he would get in great condition and take rounds off Canelo & come away from it with a lot of credibility. I just think Canelo is elite, he’s brilliant & he’d find an answer even for BJS on the scorecards (legitimately).

I quite like the bluff from Billy, but Canelo has an army behind him and they will have looked Billy up every which way. I'd like to see it resolved properly.

I don't think Alvarez and his team will entertain the idea of fighting Saunders unless they really have to/there's no other big fight options. Saunders isn't really a big name, he's problematic and there's not that much reward other than a strap which Alvarez probably won't defend anyway as I think he'll stay at 175 now that the Clen days are over and he's getting older.

The thing is though; he's claiming to be a four weight world champion but he only has a regular belt at SMW. His claim isn't legitimate until he wins a real belt and Billy holds one.

True, BJS is seemingly the easiest fight of all the current belt holders too, I rate Benavidez, Smith and Plant higher than him at that weight.

8 fights in 5 years, twice becoming a World Champion in that time. I think that says more about Frank Warren's relationship with the WBO than anything else. Saunders is a lazy and terrible champion, I've just had a look at the Super Middleweight WBO rankings and he could easily string us along for another 18 months or so with the average s**t that's in there, unless Eddie finally puts a stop to this nonsense.

Where's the big fights Eddie has promised him? Canelo is occupied so lets move on fast and get a top opponent.

Eddie should be pushing him and callum to fight it's a complete no brainer considering where they are at. It's clear somebody's side doesn't fancy it though.

Taking a big fight with Saunders is a gamble for Smith because Saunders will almost certainly f**k about, 8 fights in 5 years, the bloke has injuries, pulls out of fights, he had bad luck with Khurtsidze but that's just one fight. There's a reason Warren stopped working with him and there's more than one reason why some fighters aren't too keen on agreeing a fight with Saunders. Yes he's skilful and he's probably a hard nights work for most but he's also a f**king idiot and I don't think the risks are worth the reward with him, he can take 6 months off of someone's career with his antics, just like when he messed Martin Murray around.

Saunders is in the who needs him club. The super middleweight division isn’t exactly stacked so mandatories are underwhelming. The other champions probably see Saunders as a high risk and not high enough reward.

This interview is very telling with Hearn putting Saunders in his place quite a few times ......
