That was over 3 years so would be closer to 700k subs.

Also doesn’t include the advertising fees that would be recouped which over the course of a few years would be a few hundred million you’d imagine.

Just to throw in my two pennies worth I think DAZN also may look and believe the next deal will not be more than the current package. I think what they may consider is that if the deal was £400m a season they would need 1.1m subscribers at £30 per month but only 600k subscribers at £50 a month so that may well be the price point. As if they could then complete a deal with Matchroom for the boxing would allow them with year round content. There is definitely a model in the UK but it’s a tough market to conquer as it’s not the biggest market. It wouldn’t surprise me if they actually try to get on of the premier league packages like Amazon did this year.

The other point with DAZN is they are looking to become a worldwide market so if they buy a great market share initially they could afford to utilise profit from other territory. This is not something BT have available to them as they are not in as many markets as DAZN.

DAZN will be looking at how they can make a statement when they launch like they did with Canelo in the US. That will either be a big football package or signing AJ to an exclusive deal for instance.

The other incentive Matchroom have is DAZN can offer them deals in worldwide markets. As they already have in Spain, Italy, Germany, USA and soon to be Japan and Canada. They could also offer deals in the same markets for Matchrooms other sports such as the snooker and darts. These deals will turn Matchroom into a billion dollar business and I think Hearn has tried to emulate the UFCs buyout and that will be his eventual cash out. Or he will float on the stock market.

you have to take into account that Champions League and Premier League TV rights are a lot less costly in canada compared to the UK.

£10 per month is reasonable for just Champions League though no doubt.

They can do what they want, I'll carry on paying 50 a year IPTV subs and have never missed a fight yet that I wanted to see, as well as my football team play every game live on the box. No brainer for me

Yes to IPTV mate or similar where you get all your sport under one subscription costing £1 per week.

    Ask around in your local.

BT have found that buying the rights for the Chumps League and Europa Paint Pot Trophy resulted in huge losses as they failed to attract significant numbers of new subscribers. BT are now cutting back on the BT Sports offering.

Eleven Sports UK went down the pan quickly after buying the rights to Italian and Spanish Football not even lasting the season.

Very few people are willing to pay for a single sports subscription service never mind 4 or 5.

There is probably a market for 2, maybe 3 at the most, sport subscription services at the right price - any new entrants would really have to blow customers away with the offering and price.

There is little chance of gaining many new subscribers at £20 per month in the current market unless there is exceptional sport including PPV boxthing, EPL rights along with the Chumps league and La Liga etc.

Their numbers contain subscribers who dip in and out and cherry pick, depending on the fight (or event). They doubled monthly cost due to this and set the yearly cost at about $8 a month to entice the monthlies to commit. They need loads of subscribers who are all in, at less cost.

Eleven Sports just went silly. Over paid for La Liga and UFC.

Premier Sports manage to do okay. Well surprised they put up the £££ for La Liga.

It's all about baby steps and working within your means to grow a base. Look at the state ITV left the football league after ridiculous overspening out the gate.
