Ali beat Foreman by way of K.O. in round 8 is the greatest victory of all time in the HW Division IMO. Nobody thought that he could do so. Most people thought that Ali is gonna be killed in the ring.
A good example of hyperbole and how these things can grow to distorted proportions over time... Ali was between a 3-1 and 4-1 underdog against Foreman. For a recent comparison, that's in the range of Canelo vs Kovalev. An underdog, yes, but nowhere near to the extent the legend has exaggerated it in to. And it doesn't need that anyways, as its a phenomenal win regardless
I believe the tear was already there and Dundee Saw it and just stretched it to buy a few more seconds,, which it did, but many people come out with they went to fetch new gloves from the dressing room and all sorts, and the myth grew that it bought him loads of time when it was only seconds. that’s what I mean by myths, but it did happen I know that, just not to the extent people want to make out sometimes. Ps that doctor wouldn’t have the stamina too muscle bound bit like AJ lol.
So Alis prime was 1969 ? A year he didn't even fight in ?? I just don't think, along with many others, that the sun shines out of Ali's arse, he was beatable, he could lose
This was a hypothetical thread of which could have happened if he wasn’t banned. Ali did fight after those years and we missed his prime, given what we saw before and after it was a fair assessment, I don’t think the sun shines out of his arse but I do think he is the best heavyweight. MY OPINION, so I suppose you want to ban all hypothetical threads eg dead fighters against modern because it didn’t happen ect that would shut down the forum, I’m getting the impression you are not very bright. Ps I think he could lose but in these circumstances H2H I think he would lose the least out of the greats, what’s wrong with that.
No, not at all. There you go, that's better, hes not unbeatable and that time out could very well have worked for him, nobody knows, he could've lost straight forward and worse than FOTC..
I never said he was unbeatable, you are trying to put your own narrative on it again. but do you not think that a fighter who didn’t fight for 4 years, and relied on speed and reflexes, and was a few years younger, would have done better in the Frazier fight as it was the slowing down of Ali in the second half of the fight that cost him the points loss? And he did go on to beat him twice you know! Or are you such an Ali hater you can’t bear to acknowledge the logic in that.
Frazier was always his Daddy prime, you harp on about Ali's time out, but frazier wouldn't be cleared to fight if he fought now, blind nearly in one eye, blood pressure through the roof..As for Ali being a few years younger, he was in his prime years in 71, 29 to be precise
No ...Angelo " admitted" that he ENLARGED an already existing tear on a seam of the glove. (Had he simply shown the ref the pre existing rip in the glove it's very likely the ref would have insisted on a new glove anyway... Angelo was just being doubly sure).
What like Ortiz blood pressure through roof? Wouldn’t be cleared now, oh yeah lol, I’m surprised joe Frazier could stand up with your flannel. I think a lot of that stuff is exaggerated mate or he wouldn’t have beat the fighters he did. Joe was a great fighter and you are putting age down like it means everything. peoples primes are different ages, depending on how long they have been fighting, amount of fights, styles ect. Eg Tyson’s prime between 20-23 ish not at his best after that but still a young man at 29yrs, but way past his prime, hell with your logic Frazier was only 29yrs or just turned 30yrs when he lost to Ali in second fight, he must have been in his prime. Not. you know a reflex fighter like Ali’s prime isn’t with 4 years out of the ring after around 100 amateur fights 32 professional fights some against HOF fighters and pushing 30 years old, having already been fighting for 11 years pro and amateur. Talk about clutching at straws. Lol
Please edit this and put it in paragraphs. I dont have the patience to wade my way through this sludge
I haven’t got time to do it again, will take it on board for my next post you will just have to leave it. Not a problem.
I have a more realistic scenario: The time is 1969, and Ortiz is still in his prime. Cuban fighters are allowed to fight for money. Luis Ortiz stalks Ali around the ring, a ferocious scowl on his face. Ali tries to float, Ali tries to sting, but alas, his punches just bounce off the face of the angriest turtle there ever was. Then ... BOOM! Ortiz drops the thunder and sends Ali out through the ropes into the judges table! Nobody expected such power, except for Ortiz' old friends the Castro brothers who are in the front rows waving Cuban flags. Ali is later revived at the hospital and he asks "Mummy, did I win?" Meanwhile Ortiz is feted across the planet and the US moves to classify him as a WMD, precipitating a new Cuban Missile Crisis. Ortiz tells President Kennedy "OK, Boomer." The End.
