Baer was outboxed by Schaaf, Loughran, Risko and Braddock in his physical prime. Johnson wins easily.

    Baer was leagues above Firpo.

That's how incredibly sh*tty Firpo was.

Same basic style. Johnson is gonna read Baer like an open book. Here comes the overhand right.
JJ would have some answers for that.

Did he though? If it was a legit KD he sure recovered quick ,koing Ketchel for 12 minutes as soon as he got up!

Not for ring science he wasn't ,Baer telegraphed his over hand right, and was wide open for counters.

There are a lot of asterisks next to those. Schaaf, Loughran and Risko were all within a year of killing an opponent.

This doesn't wash, the premise that Baer was haunted by the tragedy against Cambell and pulled his punches in his next few fights,,doesn't stand up to close scrutiny.
Why? In between losing to Schaaf and Loughran, he ko'd Tom Heeney, and in between Loughran and Risko ,
    he ko'd Owens.
Owens had gone 10rds to a dec a year earlier and Heeney went 10 to a dec a year later.
Two months after losing to Risko, and still less than a year after the Campbell fight he ko'd Van Noy and a month later Santa.
Thanks for prompting me to look that up!"

JJ had his own list of losses and draws to men I don’t consider as good as Baer. I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as some think. I think if Johnson had fixed his jab and counters to a more modern style he would win. But that lunging style would get him killed imo against a solid puncher .

Not when he was prime he didn't.

It failed to do so for 15 years!

For effectiveness, he sure was. Thus, his register of actual ring accomplishments compared to the dubious record of Firpo.
