How did Robert Guerrero win more rounds against TBE than Canelo, Marquez and Pacquiao?

You seem to have a dog in this race, seeing as how Marquez put Pacquiao's lights out with the entire Phillipines watching, and therefore must be a generational talent, so let's do this objectively:

b.) Guererro 12 round washing of Katsidis (as wide as 118-106 on one card)

Objective evidence suggests Marquez was not better than Guererro at 135/47

 

Very possibly all true...I would have to rewatch both bouts to remember those issues.
But I was referring to rounds, which I recall scoring.

Neither fight had any 10-8 rounds. I scored Pac 4 (maybe 5) rounds to Floyd's 8 (maybe 7).

I scored Canelo 3 rounds to Floyd's 9 and all 3 were close.

 

Judges scorecards had Pac winning 4 rounds majority in floyds backyard. That means he won’t at least 4 rounds.

Fight was far closer than people make out. Floyd didn’t do ****, landed 1-2 more extra punches on the rounds he “won” whilst running. Meanwhile Pac emphatically won the rounds he won.

“Pac arguably won 2 rounds” shows how delusional and revisionist people have become about the fight. We could review the fight round by round now and every round floyd won could be contended, whereas Pac won 2 very clear rounds.

He hurt floyd, floyd never hurt him.

 

@IntentionalButt you didn't even mention the 2nd big right hand by Canelo in your punch summary before Floyd "crabbed" off the ropes. This is also a great example of a round where Compubox got it totally wrong and it's very misleading.

According to Compubox Mayweather landed 26/49 total punches 53% in this round Canelo only landed 9/49 total punches 18%. Looking at those stats you might be inclined to score it 10-9 to Mayweather. Floyd's numbers in this round were hugely inflated. This is one of the best examples of why scoring rounds by Compubox would be terrible for boxing.

Floyd may have landed a couple more punches in the round mostly jabs. But there's no way he came close to landing 26 punches. What explains this is how the compubox operators interpreted the ropes sequences. When Canelo was on the ropes they ended up giving Floyd credit for a lot of landed punches, but in reality almost all of these shots were picked off or slipped by Canelo when he was on the ropes, like how he fought off the ropes without getting hit vs GGG in similar fashion years later. Then when roles were reversed and Floyd went back to the ropes, Canelo's 8 punch combination was so lightning-fast that the compubox operators couldn't click their clickers fast enough to count all those punches. In round 10, the Compubox numbers are totally whack. Floyd landed way less than 26 and Canelo landed way more than 9. This was a round that Floyd outlanded him but not anywhere near the margin that Compubox indicates, and Canelo landed the quality punches. So this is another example of quality vs quanity. You have to make an intelligent decision in your mind if Floyd's jabs were better than that 12 punch sequence including those 2 big right hands.

 

Close but clear.

 

Sure, Guerrero is definitely better than he's given credit for, but he's still a joke opponent for Mayweather. He did better than the rest here because Mayweather just didn't take him seriously. He was openly walking through him and taking shots he could have easily avoided.

 

He peaked a couple of years before he fought Mayweather. By the time he fought Mayweather he wasn't the same fighter.

I gave PAC 3 rounds and both Canelo and Guerrero 2.

Gave Pac 2 rounds, Guerrero 3, Canelo 1 or 2.

Lets be honest people, they all did relatively the same. They were all dominated. Floyd doesn't dominate opponents the same way George Foreman did, but he often dominates them nonetheless.

Marquez did significantly worse than the other three being discussed. He was the only one fighting in a new division for the fight. And he was also fighting the youngest version of Floyd between them.

At no point were any of these 4 fighters really even "in the fight" or doing anything to scare someone who had placed money on Floyd to win.

 

Canelo landed more punches on Mayweather than either Pac or Guerrero did. And they were better punches. The two big shots on Mayweather that Canelo landed on him in the 10th round were far better than anything Pac or Guerrero landed on Mayweather. And it wasn't even close.

 

Dominated my ass. He barely got by on rounds he won, got hurt twice and got called out by his dad for fighting scared.
