...granted, Devin Vargas is better conditioned and craftier (and probably all-around better h2h) than Joshua Tufte, but on the basis of this doubleheader I have to say that right now Ahio > Fa.

Possibly, I'd been wondering about who she was.

    Round 4

Vargas is still playing to the crowd and mugging after each diving body swipe or defensive spin-out to safety more so than focusing on scoring points. Fa is looping right hands around the guard, at worst clasping his arm on the back of Vargas' and pool-balling it indirectly into the side of his head. Fa is jabbing over the head and pressing into Vargas in messy clinches, Fa getting Vargas' head wedged in his armpit quite often.

    10-9 Fa

    40-36 Fa

Jesus, is Fa seriously gassed? After four goddamn tepid rounds?

The Brooklyn accent amuses, but she's pretty insightful.

5th was quite a bit of fun. Vargas down from a body shot, but had Fa looking a bit unsteady ona couple of occasions/

Ahio would probably knock fa out to be fair

    Round 5

Vargas hurts Fa with a left hand up top. Vargas is hounding Fa now with high-climbing shots with both hands, springing up at him from a low crouch. Fa is pressed into a corner and looking uncomfortable, if not exactly in trouble. HUGE thudding body shot out of nowhere by Fa, dropping Vargas for a count of nine. Vargas laughing it off, but that hurt. Fa now hooking under the arms of Vargas as the American marches into him loading up on his own body shots, their guards bumping together repeatedly and their heads very nearly doing so - perhaps only not doing so because of the height disparity.

10-8 Fa (was about to be a very clear 10-9 Vargas until that body shot)

    50-44 Fa

That's my takeaway from tonight. RJJ should redirect his focus in the Kiwi heavyweight department. :sisi1

(and somebody ought to drop him a dime about Mailata, who you think is better than either?)

That reminds me, I've kind of low-key always wanted to hear Rosie Perez on commentary. She is a well-documented longtime passionate fan of the sport...not that all of that automatically translates into articulate or knowledgeable analysis, but...

    Round 6

Vargas coming forward, blowing hard, but forcing the pace and jabbing up off the hip at Fa. Sweeping left hooks by Fa, telegraphed, ducked underneath by Vargas. Diving right hands on the body scoring for Vargas. Fa's output slowing as he stands off at range and tries jabbing Vargas on the way in, but mistiming a bit.

    10-9 Vargas

    59-54 Fa

Yep. Id say he beats fa right now as a 2-0 guy. Ahio, well i guess he can catch anyone and knock em out, but i think pat starts favourite, even now.

Honestly if you take away the knockdown, Vargas has all the momentum the last couple of rounds. Fa really does only have a 4-round gas tank..

Shameful that a 37 year old who debuted in 2004 (and has untold thousands of rounds, including sparring, on the odometer) and whose body is obviously deteriorating into a gooey pile of flab has better stamina than a 30 year old who debuted a dozen years later and should be comparatively fresh.
