The whole card has been mismatched bouts with a great sprinkling of snoozeyness. The main event better deliver.

 

This Smith kid is the definition of european level. He gets smashed in his first attempt at world level.

 

I suspect he will be fed a steady diet of domestic level fighters and with the slightest step up will get found out and beat. Only 5 more rounds to go...

Round 2 Smith lands body shots, Bevilacqua giving his best too. Smith round.

Round 3 Smith body shots and hook to the head. Close Smith round.

Round 4 Scottish crowd who normally are boisterous and loud as a boorish mob are falling asleep and on their cell phones scrolling social media or getting more beers.

Round 5 Extremely lacklustre and uneventful round. Smith lands 2 punches towards the end. Smith round.

Round 6 Sorry, I could hardly pay attention. Smith round.

Round 7 Smith is doing too much to protect his tiny cut against a complete non-puncher. Smith could turn it up a few gears but chooses to keep his opponent on the end of long straight punches. Excruciating to watch. Smith has a second cut caused by a punch. Smith round.

Round 8 Bevilacqua lands a nice counter right. Smith replies with a few single shots. Taking turns to land now. Bevilacqua lands again. Smith trying to keep it long, Bevilacqua trying to get inside. Close round Bevilacqua round.

Round 9 Another boring and dreary round. Smith round.

Round 10 Smith possibly has a third cut and that is the most eventful thing in the fight. Unwatchable. Smith round.

Lee McGregor vs. Ukashir Farooq 12 Rounds @ Bantumweight.

 

Nice accent, Smith.

 

Farooq is an average sized Bantamweight fighter. McGregor on the other hand is HUGE. He is fighting at Bantamweight (115lbs) with a Lightweight’s body (140lbs). McGregors height is listed at 5ft 7in but he looks much taller. I think McGregor re-hydrates between 10 to 15 pounds and this will be a massive factor for him.


Farooq and McGregor have a common opponent in Scott Allan. Just look at the size difference between McGregor and Allan compares to Farooq and Allan. That is a momentous difference.


I predict that McGregor will outsize and outweigh Farooq and simply be too big for him. McGregor will start by keeping Farooq at range and only engage close-in when he knows that he has Farooq’s number. Farooq will be unable to hurt McGregor although he will start to land when McGregor decides to come in closer.
