10-9 Błachowicz 48-47 Souza. No complaints if it goes the other way as the first 3 rounds were all pretty close where as Błachowicz won the last two clearly.
48-47 Souza, 48-47 Błachowicz and 48-47 Błachowicz. Błachowicz wins via SD. Can't really argue with that result. I almost gave Błachowicz the 3rd.
No idea where Souza goes from here, not sure if this was meant to be permanent move up to light-heavyweight or not
Caught between a rock and a hard place in both weight classes unfortunately. Good enough to give most guys outside the elite a hard and close fight but not enough to get a shot. I actually think if he got a fight against Adesanya he'd have a good chance at winning. Not convinced in his ability to deal with a durable and driven grappler hellbent on dragging him to the mat.
I agree that Blachowicz clearly won those last 2 rds with actually throwing a bit of stand up. Imo those first 3 rds are basically draws as NOTHING happened. I think Blachowicz did the better work on the feet even though both fighters were poor and did close to nothing. That Shogun-Craig decision was a joke. A clear 29-28 win for Shogun. It is really troubling how it could be scored any other way. LOL at the judge who scored rd 3 to Craig. Completely incompetent.
Yeah man. I really really reluctant in scoring those rounds for Souza. I gave him them largely on octagon control and the clinches against the cage. Nothing happen but Blachowicz got the better of the striking in most of them. In hindsight I would problem rescore the 3rd for him which was my initial gut instinct watching it live before mulling over it some more and switching it to Souza. At the end I think the right man won if we're judging the fight as a whole. 10 point must it could go either way. Shogun had the takedown and top control in round 3.... and I believe got the bet of that striking exchange before Craig secured the takedown in the dying seconds. That judge is a total moron.
