Indeed. People are allowing their personal feelings around Joshua/Matchroom to cloud their judgement. In a world where serial-loser Dereck Chisroa fighting Dillian Whyte - recently seen rendered unconscious - can sell as many PPV numbers as they did, Joshua himself isn't suddenly going to become unpopular. Tony Bellew had been splattered at light heavy, fought a dismal fight with Cleverly, and then fought David Haye who had fought nobody but nobodies for years, had an absolute stinker himself against Klitschko and lost early in his career. Sold an absolute boatload. The only way Joshua isn't doing big PPV numbers next year is if he retires. Even if Ruiz beats him, the decision to carry on will mean he does serious business.
You seem to be using American comparisons here The two fan bases have a different mind set imo Not comparable Although you clearly dont agree Bruno was everyones favourite loser and the 80s and 90s fan would pay for such a character Not so much today Im not desperate for anyone to fail But yes id enjoy watching matchroom fall about now Enjoy and being desperate are not the same
Okay, I'll use British comparisons then. Haye and Bellew had lost a few between them and sold loads. Whyte had been destroyed by Joshua and Chisora had lost about half a dozen fights if not more and sold loads. Lewis had lost against McCall and Rahman and sold loads. Why is Joshua any different?
Del boy has reinvented himself with matchrooms help Go back to before the 1st Whyte fight and he sold very little Haye and Bellew was at on the surface at least a genuine grudge fight, those will always sell Lewis and Rahman to be honest ive no idea how it did and if it did well cant explain that Josuha to be as popular as he is has to have more than your average fan on side and the flip side of gaining such fans is they are fair weathered Thats my view of what could possibly happen if he loses
The reality is Joshua, based on tickets and PPV's sold, is the most popular British fighter ever. He's just not suddenly going to become a nobody if he loses a few fights. We'll no doubt see, but my prediction is that this sells a load and does massive business. If Joshua loses, he'll fight someone like Chisora next year (if he decides he's not going to retire of course), which will be on PPV. That'll do big business. If he wins he's back to being a unified world champion and talk no doubt ramps up once again for the Fury/Wilder fight. Every fight he has from now on is twenty five quid minimum.
Ah come on, Tone, you don’t have to try and undermine other posters opinions by highlighting their grammar. This should be one platform where people should feel comfortable putting their points across without feeling like they’re back in school or writing an academic paper.
Absolutely mate. The power is ultimately with the customer - Sky need our money to exist and the world would survive no problem should Sky go out of bizthness tomorrow. Educated people see through all the marketing and spin looking at the objectives and outcomes of said marketing and spin. The obscene amounts of PPV loot accumulated by Tony Dosh PPV is unthinkable and even Puddings Whyte and Chisora are multi millionaires worth an absolute fortune. Never has so many, paid so much, to benefit so few. The mugths are so thick they keep forking out time and again for garbage because Edwina sells them a pup.
It obviously gave him a cheap kick No offence taken but i did not expect it from him tbh I shall just use my fiver i save from the next PPV offering to buy a grammar for dummies book Cheers Tone Without your guidance id be struggling in life
Who said he will become a nobody? Not seen that typed anywhere And if AJ Vs Del is 25 quid i shall laugh at the clowns stupid enough to pay for it
Hayers takes everything to the extreme. He twists posts and even makes things up. It's just another day of his crap unfortunately. I don't think PPV sales are the worry for team AJ if he loses again in brutal fashion. It'll be the mental scars, highlighted fragility and loss of belief that could end his career. It's a long road back if he gets stopped again and with so much money in the bank, he may not bother. Huge, huge, fight and the 7th of December can't come quick enough. It's going to be fireworks!
Well if they don't have a device to stream it then they can't blame the world. Anyone who genuiely can't afford a device to stream it wouldnt benefit from the ppv being £10 either since they probably couldn't afford a TV or a sky box in the first place.
