Look. He was supposed to lose to Quillin. I'm just happy he's getting a payday here. It's a trash fight make no mistake about it.

Why does he get it over someone who is more worthy of a title shot?

I have no problem with occasional title defenses against lower ranked contenders, sentimental favorites, or big underdogs if they aren't in avoidance of more meaningful fights. Frankly, I like the idea of Angulo getting his shot and a payday after a courageous career. Sure, Plant should box him down with room to spare, but I'll watch in hopes Angulo can pull a rabbit out of his hat.

I hate this match, and I really hate this sport sometimes because of matches like this being made. The compulsion on the part of promoters to feed old shot to hell fighters who somehow managed against the odds to pull off a monumental upset of epic proportions, against another old shot fighter that everyone thought was just a little bit better. Then instead of allowing them to bask in the glory of that win and in their next match putting him in with an appropriate old past it fighter on a similar level, which would be sensible matchmaking, they turn around and hand him a title shot against an undefeated young lion who will obliterate him. This is lazy, deplorable matchmaking, **** Al Haymon and all the scumbags at PBC for making this. They simply cannot let an old war horse have his moment in the sun can they? This is all the evidence anyone needs that they don't give a **** about their fighters or their long-term health. Quite frankly it's sickening.

Yeah, for me the ire mostly gets directed at Plant, because this obviously is a voluntary defense and so...he could have just been like "nah". Kind of douchey that he didn't pass on it.

edit: Hang on, lemme check the rankings. Yep, the IBF don't even have El Perro ranked. Eat a dick, Caleb.

Perro wasn't a match for Plant when he was on his prime, let alone some 10 years and a few KO losses after that. I know Perro might need one last payday, but no governing body should sanction this fight.

If Plant was as confident as he claims to be he wouldn't make this fight.

Crap fight against a shot opponent. I like Plant but seriously hope Angulo pulls out a miracle and knocks him out because I’m angry about the matchup.

Funny, I don’t see any Tank Davis fans complaining about the Gamboa or his last few opponents when he was at 130.

Hopefully it's just garbage Coppinger tweeting nonsense like usual, I don't put much stock in this. Caleb was just on the PBC podcast this week and said they haven't even really talked opponents yet and said it would be someone the fans will be happy with when they do. I find it hard to believe it could possibly be Angulo. Coppinger is wrong about 75% of the time, so I gonna hold off on ripping Plant just yet. But, if it turns out to be true, yes it would be a terribly disappointing choice.

This fight isn't already on boxrec, so let's just hope.
