Look at this from a 36 year old against a prime ultra motivated warrior. One of the best toe to toe fights ive ever seen. Rewatched it the other night and it's as good as it as back then Shows Marquez' incredible heart, toughness, stunning combination punching, fighting in the pocket, every kind of shot. And the incredible effort put in from Katsidis. He was relentless, brilliant, and probably hit Marquez with the hardest shot he's ever taken. An amazing toe to toe fight worth watching if you've never seen it before or just want to revisit a classic but rarely talked about toe to toe war This content is protected
Marquez was 36, moved up, and took out the most stacked division in baaxing at the time. Katsidis, Diaz and Casamayor. The first two fights were Classics, the fight with Casa was a brilliant technical warfare
Katsidis was a fun fight but Marquez class was always going to show, although Katsidis had the size advantage to make it interesting early on. The other wins were class though. He really did clean out that division. And at the age he was at. Great great fighter
I remember thinking he was an idiot after he screamed w"are you looking at" to Robert Guerrero This content is protected
Two exciting boxers. That year Marquez also had that FOTY with Diaz, and of course his series with Pacquiao everyone knows. But if you'll remember Katsidis also had a history of exciting fights like his 2007 dust up with Graham Earl. This content is protected This content is protected
You are so damn biased. Katsidis, Diaz and ancient Casamayor = the most stacked division in boxing? Absolutely laughable. Imagine Pac getting dropped by Kats, hurt by Diaz and having a war with them. He would have been crucified. Imagine fighting ancient Casamayor to a draw until the KO. Keep it consistent, if you are going to scrutinize Pac's resume with a magnifying glass, do the same for JMM. Pac would have blown those guys out and they'd be bums.
Take the drugs out his system like Mayweather did and these guys would have given Manny hell And yes, it was the most stacked division at the time. There's a reason Manny took on the paper chump David Diaz then got the hell out of there
Loved the katsidis and the Diaz fight..... Think its testament to how good marquez still was at that age... The shot katsidis hurt him with had him hurt bad and how did he respond... He landed 93%of his shots that round and gave katsidis a hiding... Some of the combinations were beautiful... But that was a given with Marquez
Tough as hell ATG Mexican warrior. At one point he threw an 8 punch combo and landed nearly every shot. Katsidis took an absolute beating in R9, painful to watch
