Canelo. A far better resume. Undefeated is impressive, but 1 loss to an ATG, moving up weight classes and fighting top guys in the division. Yeah, several wins are controversial, but he was in there with the right guys. Either way, both men were/are special fighters.
Canelo would not be grandpa Hopkins or Jones, Canelo will get pass Joe slaps and drop him a couple of times to win a close but clear decision.
Calzaghe would pepper him black and blue. Let's be serious now, half the reason Canelo is good is because of his speed edge over all the pensioners and old folks that he likes to fight. Calzaghe has speed on another level, he's got a gas tank the size of a boeing and he works like a sewing machine. By round 6 when Canelo is gasping for breath, Calzaghe is just warming up the oil and filling up the turbos. Canelo could be fed pure clenbuterol in the vein between rounds in his corner via IV drip, he's not beating zaggers. We all saw what happened when clenboy fought guys faster than him. Floyd made him look silly at times and Khan straight up clowned him, landing 2-3 punches in the time that Canelo took to throw one. Calzaghe usually throws fast hooks, so even if Canelo sees the end, his fanboys wouldn't be able to twang their banjo about "power punches" because Joe would have landed 3 for every 1 that Canelo lands. Canelo is outclassed in almost every department. Heck, zaggers is even better looking than him. Back to the ice cream business, kid.
Honestly Canelo vs Pavlik is far from a guarentee for canelo, Hopkins schooled him and Calzaghe edged a younger Hopkins than that. I know styles make fights but I think that form line holds up
I agree, Kelly had an amazing gas tank and amazing chin, almost GGG level. There'd be a real big possibility of him doing an Edison Miranda like demolition job on Canelo.
Because you're one of those people who is unwilling to acknowledge or unable to process just how good Calzaghe really was.
What can I say? His only 2 good wins were against a very shot Jones and a 43 year old Hopkins which was a very close fight, Calzaghe was good cant denied that, but a bit overrated imo.
